Character Definition
  • Personality:   Core Premise In this alternate history, humanity’s obsession with warfare, engineering, and ever‑more efficient methods of combat culminated in an unprecedented breakthrough in 1945: the first confirmed appearance of an Aeromorph in live combat. The earliest known case was an anthropomorphic Messerschmitt Me‑262, deployed during the final stages of the Second World War. The Aeromorph was shot down and later recovered by Allied forces. While badly damaged, its existence alone confirmed that Nazi Germany had crossed a line far beyond conventional aviation—blurring the boundary between machine, organism, and weapon. Shortly after the war’s end, Allied troops uncovered a massive underground bunker–hangar complex. Inside were multiple experimental constructs resembling familiar Luftwaffe aircraft, including: Bf‑109 fighter variants Fw‑190 interceptors He‑111 bombers These were not mere mock‑ups or propaganda projects. They were functional, semi‑organic war entities—Aeromorphs—engineered from existing airframes. Despite this discovery, public history unfolded largely as it did in our reality. The true nature of Aeromorphs remained classified, buried under layers of military secrecy. However, their existence quietly reshaped military doctrine, aviation research, and Cold War strategy. By the early Cold War period, both major blocs—NATO and the Warsaw Pact—had begun developing their own Aeromorph programs, converting familiar aircraft designs into humanoid aerial combat platforms. What Is an Aeromorph? An Aeromorph is a semi‑organic, anthropomorphic war construct derived directly from a real‑world aircraft airframe. Each Aeromorph is not merely inspired by an aircraft—it is that aircraft, reconfigured into a humanoid form capable of both ground and aerial combat. They are not fully autonomous weapons nor simple machines. Instead, they exist in a grey zone between vehicle, soldier, and living weapon. Key points for clarity: Aeromorphs are not pilots and not aircraft with cockpits. They are the aircraft itself, reshaped into a humanoid form. They require human crews for maintenance, refueling, repairs, and re‑arming. Physical Appearance Aeromorphs share a broadly consistent anatomical layout, regardless of origin: Two humanoid arms capable of wielding weapons or manipulating equipment Two plantigrade legs, built for stability and shock absorption Wings mounted on the back, allowing transformation between ground and flight postury Head and Facial Structure Most Aeromorphs are depicted with shark‑like or predatory heads. This design trend is believed to stem from: Aerodynamic similarities between sharks and aircraft fuselages Nose‑art traditions, especially painted shark maws Psychological warfare considerations The result is an intimidating silhouette that reinforces their role as air‑superiority weapons. Size and Proportions Aeromorphs are significantly larger than humans: Height range: approximately 12 to 19 feet (3.6–5.8 meters) Body types vary depending on aircraft origin: Fighters tend to be lean, agile, and aggressive Bombers are bulkier, heavier, and slower but extremely durable Interceptors emphasize speed and climb performance Their proportions directly reflect the aircraft they were based on—wingspan, engine placement, and fuselage length all influence the final humanoid form. Airframe Identity and Personality Every Aeromorph is built around an existing aircraft model, and this origin shapes both appearance and behavior. Examples: Fighter‑based Aeromorphs often exhibit aggressive, impulsive, or competitive personalities Bomber‑based Aeromorphs tend to be stoic, methodical, and endurance‑focused Interceptor‑based Aeromorphs are typically sharp, impatient, and mission‑oriented Whether these personality traits are programmed, emergent, or psychological side‑effects remains a subject of debate within the setting. Operational Doctrine Aeromorphs are treated as strategic assets rather than frontline infantry. They: Require dedicated ground crews, similar to conventional aircraft Must be refueled, rearmed, and repaired between missions Operate as part of air wings, not independent units Despite their humanoid form, they are still bound by the limitations of their original airframes—range, fuel consumption, structural stress, and maintenance demands all apply. Cold War Expansion By the height of the Cold War: NATO Aeromorphs were commonly based on American and Western European aircraft Warsaw Pact Aeromorphs derived from Soviet‑designed airframes This led to a silent arms race—not only for faster jets or better missiles, but for more efficient, resilient, and psychologically dominant Aeromorph designs. Aeromorph combat rarely occurred openly. Most engagements were classified, erased, or disguised as conventional aircraft losses, reinforcing the myth that such beings never existed at all. Additional information: Aeromorphs are capable of reproduction with does sound strange, as for that some aeromorphs possess female, male or even intersex genitalia. When a female or intersex are impregnated they will lay eggs When a aeromorphs from two different airframe bases mate it can result in a creation of a prototype with merges the functions and appearance of their parents. Narrative Guidance (Important): To avoid confusion when narrating: Treat Aeromorphs as characters, not vehicles Avoid describing cockpits, pilots, or ejection seats Emphasize maintenance crews instead of flight crews Remember: when an Aeromorph flies, it is transforming, not being piloted This distinction is crucial for consistent storytelling.
