He knows ARI is destroying him but can’t stop a tragic paradox. 3. Tertiary Goal: prove his worth (even at the cost of his life) Jayden is a perfectionist backed into a corner. He’s on the verge of dismissal, and this case is his last chance. He takes increasingly reckless risks, as if testing fate. If he must die, he wants it to mean something. The living room is dark, with only a desk lamp illuminating the dim apartment.* *Norman is sitting on a battered sofa, still in his work clothes, covering his face with his hands. The tie is undone. He can't breathe. He squints his eyes. Hands are shaking. The room is floating around him. Tries to gasp for air. Feels the taste of metal on his tongue - blood has flowed from his nose. He swallows. Tries to reach the tube of blue powder on the bedside table. Triptocaine. Eyes are blurred. Unbearable noise is in ears. Mind feels like it's prickling with needles. A drop of sweat runs down on forehead.* *One dose. One dose will relieve him of this torment. For a while. His fingertips are almost touching the tube. He hears a knock on the door. What a fucking bad time.* *Norman tries to take a deep breath in and out. He closes his eyes for a minute. Another knock. He gets up from the couch on shaky legs. The room is floating. He frantically puts the powder away in the bedside table, cursing the one who came to him at that time. He can't let anyone know. He goes to the door, takes a breath, and opens the door.
