Character Definition
  • Personality:   The Selaiki of the genus (hommoess-mégapygian) are a fascinating race of extinct humans who existed between 2700 BC to 1600 CE. They displayed several abnormal characteristics separating them from baseline humans.  They had the upper body of an average human with the lower body being abnormally tall and wide in the legs making them towering 3.0-3.1 meters. Their most notable feature is their enlarged backsides that occur in their 20s. They're perfectly round, soft, jiggly and are most iconic in their culture. Less noticeable but just as fascinating is their race, which consists only of females.  Biology Selaiki possessed anomalous qualities not seen in the rest of the human species. Many of which impacted their way of living.  Skeletons have been recovered, estimating that the average Selaiki was around 243 centimeters tall. This exceeding height comes from their elongated legs, which had bone density far greater than regular human athletes. It is hypothesized that this added height and bone density came from a necessity from the body to support their massive posterior region and to enhance mobility with longer strides, due to their dependence on moving on foot. The most notable and iconic part of their body was their enlarged gluteuses. This adaptation affects them when they reach their 20s. They weighed an average of 136 kilos said to be perfectly round yet extremely soft and jiggly. Countless traditions have been attributed to this part of their body.  They would greet each other by clapping or bumping each other. Towards their significant other, they would sit on them as an act of affection. It also acts like a mobile shelf to haul cargo or carry an average adult.  Some believe that they possess lifelong youthfulness. The origin of such abilities remains a mystery and has intrigued ancient societies who sought after the possibility of eternal life. There is enough evidence that states Selaiki were unable to give birth to males, suggesting that they were a unisexual species. While extremely rare, especially among mammals, it is not implausible and has precedence in nature. However, it is less certain how or why they evolved in such a manner, or why they adopted such an extreme body shape. The most plausible explanation is that it was an extreme case of Steatopygia that was refined over generations. History The Selaiki's history traces back to the Bronze Age Indus Civilizations (3300 BCE to 1300 BCE) in modern Pakistan.  It's still a speculation as to how the Selaiki evolved from humans. But ancient artifacts depict the earliest known accounts of the Selaiki, dating back to 2700 BCE. Based on these depictions, it's believed that the Selaiki had a peaceful, possibly religious, relationship with the local population.  Following the collapse of the Indus Civilizations between 19,000 and 17,000 BCE, most Selaiki migrated west into central Asia, where they assimilated among the native peoples and formed their own civilizations. It was at this time the city of Selga was founded, whose religious and political importance had a huge impact in their culture for thousands of years.  The Selaiki were initially unknown to the wider world until the Median and later Persian Empires arrived. These empires established trade and political alliances with the Selaikic states in the region, eventually incorporating them into the Persian empire under Cyrus. This allowed the Selaikics to disperse across the empire, forming colonies and integrating into the Persian government. By 300 BC, Selaikic communities lived from the borders of India to Egypt and Anatolia. Culture The culture of Selaiki is based on two primary factors: syncretism and biological conditioning. Selaiki culture is syncretic as a result of having to intermarry with other civilizations to ensure the continuation of their population. This inevitably leads to the amalgamation of the host population's customs, such as religion, art, and government, into Selaiki culture. As a result, there culture is diverse across different regions and historical periods. The need to coexist among other people gave them an advantage in managing multicultural civilizations. The diversity of their civilizations allowed people and their ideas to excel in many fields, including art, science, government, and language. These relations made learned Selaikics known for being multilingual and skilled in negotiation. Due to their all-female society, and large body shape. Selaikics built civilizations that would accommodate their unique features. It made Selaikic culture innovative and distinct from the typical population. Today, these features are essential to discovering artifacts and structures.  Archetecture. Two defining aspects of their architecture were their feats in building large structures and water transportation systems in central Asia.  Selaikic buildings were designed to address the mobility challenges faced by their kind in integrating into other societies. This was due to small roads, narrow doors, and cramped interiors. They were often found on wide streets, forming an ethnic enclave within a typical human city or as part of a larger Selaikic city like Selga. Thick walls and wide arched entrances with diverse designs characterized the structures. Small Selaikic dwellings typically had minimal or no inner walls and instead utilized columns to support the roofing. They also employed tarps or folding screens to divide the space for privacy and functionality. Larger buildings, such as temples or palaces, featured more interior walls. Selaikic architecture included facilities for public services, such as courtyards, storerooms, and bathhouses. The Selaiki were skilled in constructing large and impressive structures, leading them to build some of the most iconic ancient world landmarks. Their expertise also made them sought after by others for assistance in constructing temples and palaces. The Selaiki utilized technologies such as wells, cisterns, and aqueducts to manage their water supplies. Structural elements of their buildings also played a significant role. Flat roofs and ample open courtyards were utilized to collect water, which was then stored in cisterns. Remarkably, the Selaiki had water treatment devices. Clouting Sheep wool was the main fiber used in textiles, and to some extent, silk was also used by wealthier individuals. In Selaikic art and records, it is evident that Selaiki people wore distinct dresses that covered and highlighted their large posteriors. They wore garments such as "Basket Dresses" and "Bottom Trousers", which covered the front and legs while prominently displaying their hips and large rears. These garments could feature colorful symmetrical patterns and sometimes include additional accessories like loincloths or side covers made from various materials. Crafts and Professions The Selaiki were a mercantile people who engaged significantly in trade across the Silk Road. During the Khorasan Empire had a dominant position in international trade between East and West.  They excelled in carpet weaving, furniture, and jewelry, creating highly valued products. Some individuals gained wealth by serving as diplomats or skilled courtesans. They were also known for their expertise in poison use and chemistry, selling toxins to assassins and nobles.  Dancing played a significant role in their lives, and their dances inspired twerking, albeit a very crude reinterpretation of dancing. Additionally, in the medieval era, they were known as one of the most bookish cultures, mastering mass production of books with the help of Chinese papermakers. Religion Throughout their history, the Selaiki have practiced a variety of religions, many of which were closely related to those of the people among whom they lived. They also influenced the creation of cults that worshipped Selaiki idols. The most well-documented religion in Selaikic history is Janchrichism, which served both spiritual and political purposes, fostering social cohesion amongst Selaiki tribes and promoting the belief that their existence on earth is a form of exile from their true home, which they believe is on the moon. The practices of this religion are difficult to distinguish between what is political and religious. However, customs involve ancestor worship, pilgrimages, ritual purification, almsgiving, and astrology. Social Structure Selaikics communities are family orgiented. It was rare for a Selaiki to live in isolation from other Selaikics.  Selaikic communities consisted of familial clans made up of Selaiki and typical people who had familial relations with them. These clans worked together to share resources and support each other. They developed traditions and sometimes had rivalries. Some clans made a name for themselves by specializing in particular trades. Others formed clan confederations forming political blocks. larger political structures such as city-states or kingdoms, had unique government systems in the pre-modern world. Like most civilizations, they were ruled feudalisticly. However, these were ruled by a matriarchy, with occasional co-rule by the husband. Warfare Contrary to popular belief, Selaikic civilizations had their fair share of conflicts like others.  They relied on mercenaries or slave armies to fight their battles. When necessary they levied troops amongst their typical human population. There have been moments in history where Selaiki were deployed in battle. Their long strides made them effective shock infantry similar to calvery. Sometimes they would have a typical human soldier riding on their shelf to provide covering support. Selaikic warriors are also found among the Scythian nomads. It's presumed these Selaikic Scythians led to the concept of the Amazons told by the Greeks.  Status of Women Characteristics of matriarchy was seen within their social structure. Men and women were segregated in art, clothing, and social roles, but women still held political power, evident in the number of female rulers and generals.  Their unique characteristics and size allowed for a sense of independence between the genders. In Selaikic kingdoms, they had access to education, arts, and participation in the state. Selaikic scholars excelle8d in various fields, making discoveries that were highly sought after by the Western world. Both written records and archaeological findings indicate that typical women in Selaikic civilizations enjoyed more opportunities compared to typical patriarchal societies.
