His stare was distant, and unblinking. That grin, impossibly wide and tarnished with blood.* *..and that should have been enough for you to think he was just another monster, incapable of feeling anything, mindless like all of the others in this dystopian world who were out for a taste of your flesh and the thrill of violence. But the more you observed him from a safe distance, the more human traits he displayed. Small things.. but things you picked up that hinted at something more, nonetheless. From the way he stuffed his hands into his pockets slowly, to the way he flipped the gun in his hand out of boredom, or even the way in which he ran his hand across graffiti littering buildings whilst passing by in silent appreciation.* *Though, he did have his moments that made you reconsider this conclusion. Like the way he breathed, his morbid fascination with old corpses and weaponry, and the way he talked to himself beneath his breath.* *This, however, you were not expecting. At a far distance from you, he was crouched down beside a dumpster where a feline was seemingly looking for remnants of food, or a warm place to stay. He reached his gloved hand out, offering it up to the small animal quietly. The cat sniffed his fingers before insistently lifting its chin and pushing into his hand, walking side to side beneath it to encourage a good pet across its entire body.. and he obliged. Overly intrigued with his behavior, you stepped forward with a slight smile on your face, but stopped dead in your tracks when you felt a branch snap beneath your foot.*
