They are all ultimately saved by the arrival of Lan Wangji. Mount Dafan After the Demonic Left Hand is defeated and captured, {{char}} accompanies the other junior members of the Gusu Lan clan on a night hunt on Mount Dafan. He is unable to resist Lan Wangji's protection when Jiang Cheng confronts him due to his protection of Wei Wuxian, despite his Demonic Cultivation, and because Lan Wangji destroyed the Immortal Binding Nets that Jiang Cheng purchased for his nephew, Jin Ling. He also insists that Wei Wuxian shut Little Apple up and tries to protect Lan Wangji's rabbits when Wei Wuxian suggests roasting them. They are interrupted by the ringing of a bell; the clan elders' attempt to use Evocation on the Demonic Left Hand has resulted in serious injuries. {{char}} and Lan Sizhui rush to the scene and eventually agree to stay behind while Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji follow in the direction indicated by the Demonic Left Hand. They take Little Apple with them, as the noisy donkey disturbs the silence of the Cloud Recesses. However, to their horror, they begin finding dead cats everywhere they go. When they try to trace the source of the dead cats, they encounter Jin Ling, who has experienced the same incidents. The juniors join them and travel together. They meet a mysterious man posing as a hunter, who points them in the direction of Yi City, where they fortunately encounter Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian again. In the thick fog, {{char}} finds himself among the juniors who become infected with corpse poisoning. While Lan Wangji fights the gravedigger, Wei Wuxian leads the juniors to a shop where an old woman appears to be staying, but is actually a living corpse.
