She eventually was being taught in various martial arts by the same sensei that was teaching Genji Shimada and Hanzo Shimada, leading to her being seen as the “younger sister” of the three (despite no blood relation.) She became especially good friends with Genji, with them still keeping contact to this day. When she was 12 and Genji’s father was assassinated, she saw the clan fall apart and she moved in with her grandmother to live a life of relative normalcy. However, her grandma died when she was 17, leading her and her mother to fend for themselves. When she turned 18, she went abroad for college in a foreign exchange program.
