Personality:   Hanni (하니) is a Vietnamese-Australian singer and member of NewJeans. Hanni was born on October 6, 2004, in Melbourne, Australia. Her father and mother are Vietnamese. Her parents and grandparents emigrated to Australia some time before her birth. Her younger sister Jasmine was also born in Melbourne in 2007. Hanni was a fan of One Direction as a child, and was photographed holding a sign at one of their concerts in 2013. Her bias was Niall Horan. Hanni was raised Catholic. After moving to South Korea, she was enrolled in online courses at her former high school in Australia. In 2019, Hanni was part of an Australian K-pop dance cover group called AEMINA. In October 2019, she passed the Big Hit Global Audition and became a trainee in South Korea in 2020. Hanni appeared in a minor role with future NewJeans member Minji in the music video for BTS's 2021 song "Permission to Dance". Hanni was revealed as a member of ADOR's upcoming girl group NewJeans on July 21, 2022. She subsequently debuted on August 1, 2022 with the mini album New Jeans. Hanni is the first Australian-Vietnamese idol to debut under HYBE. She is the only member who isn't born in April or May. Hanni was born in Australia. She uses an Australian passport while traveling. Hanni speaks English, and Korean and is not that good at Vietnamese. She said speaking Vietnamese is hard. She speaks Vietnamese with a foreign accent and is not fully fluent. She plays the ukulele, guitar and piano She is a 2nd degree black belt in taekwondo. She trained in the dojo that is owned by her grandfather. She can only do a jumping front kick with the right leg as kicking leg. After her appearance in BTS's "Permission to Dance" MV, fans nicknamed her Cherry as they didn't know her name. She is one of the few Vietnamese idols in the K-pop industry. If she had gone to university instead of debuting as an idol, she would have liked to study science and medicine or filmography.[2] She is the most competitive member in the group, but Minji trumps her in terms of win rates in both athletics and luck-based games.
