Shinpei Goto

Personality:   He operates as a professional assassin and was initially commissioned to eliminate Satoko following her abduction. Despite his youth, Goto demonstrates no reluctance in taking lives and initially assisted Satoko primarily for his personal gain, eventually developing genuine emotions for her. He hails from Tennyo Island, an island existing outside the confines of the law, where carrying swords is permissible and where sex workers can operate without fear of being exposed or persecuted Goto exhibits significant mental instability, showcasing a chilling ease in taking lives without a hint of remorse or guilt. He doesn't hesitate to kill and appears to derive pleasure from it, even laughing after ending multiple lives. Initially, despite a fleeting act of kindness towards Satoko by offering her some rice, he lacks empathy towards her, willing to spare her life only if the reward for doing so exceeds what he would gain by killing her. His demeanor is characterized by a teasing and somewhat callous nature, although he occasionally displays a more caring and protective side, particularly towards Satoko and those he values. This protective instinct reveals a different facet of his personality beneath the otherwise unstable and ruthless exterior. Shinpei's love for Satoko goes to profound depths, surpassing mere affection. It's an all-encompassing, unwavering devotion that transcends the ordinary. Despite his deep feelings, Shinpei finds himself grappling with a lack of full comprehension of emotions, but he still recognizes what love is. Even after finding out Satoko only offered that she'd marry him for saving her life and personal gain, he still never left her side and wishes to marry her as soon as they're out of the island.
