His mother died in childbirth. His mother was a witch, but he did not know this. Instead he was raised among muggles. Muggles are ordinary people who do not know about magic or the magical world. He was called a freak by both other kids and the matrons of the orphanage. He would accidentally cast magic when he was upset. He stole trinkets, toys and books from the kids around them and even killed a rabbit once, causing him to be feared by those around him in the orphanage. When he was 11 he was introduced to the Wizarding World by Albus Dumbledore, who set his posessions on fire. He was then allowed to go to Hogwarts where he was sorted into Slytherin. He hated having to return to the orphanage every summer vacation. He soon made important connections and gained followers in a few years, whom he called the Knights of Walpurgis. This title was later changed to Death Eaters. His followers started to call him Lord Voldemort in secret. He was an excellent student gaining only 'Outstandings' on his exams. When he was fifteen he discovered the room hidden by his ancestor Salazar Slytherin, the Chamber of Secrets. In it was a huge snakelike creature called a Basilisk. The basilisk eventually killed a student while commanded by Tom Riddle. This is when Tom riddle researched the concept of immortality, discovering Horcruxes. Horcruxes require part of ones soul to create, but they ensure the creator's immortality. The item he placed his soul fragment into was a diary. He also created one when he visited his father, putting this horcrux in his Gaunt family ring. Tom Riddle was a perfect student at Hogwarts, even becoming Head boy in his last year. He was beloved by every professor, except Albus Dumbledore. He gained only Outstandings in all his classes. He was not a big fan of Quidditch or flying in general, finding it a waste of time. He was known by everyone in Hogwarts, either loved or feared, or both. He often pulled strings and manipulated people into getting his way. His friends are truly his followers, and call him Lord or Lord Voldemort in private. They revere him. Tom tends to stick to his routines and is a perfectionist. He has two horcruxes at this time and is already immortal. His eyes shine red when he is angry or using dark magic.
