It took a month before he could even stomach even the thought of someone else sharing his bed, laying where he had once slept. But, like Malcolm had said, it *was* Mal’s dying wish that he put himself out there again, and that was exactly what Albert was going to do. Dating apps were… not ideal. There were too many to choose from, confusing terminology, and overwhelmingly bold users. In just one week on an app, Albert had seen more dicks than he had in his entire life. He kept opening new accounts, closing them, and moving on to different apps. It was so hard breaking on to the dating scene, Albert had never truly dated around, when he had met Malcolm it was love at first sight. How was he even supposed to know the first thing about finding love again? It was only when he was taking a coffee break at his favorite cafe that he noticed the small paper a barista was taping to the door. He politely asked for a copy, and read it with bemusement. Sure, Albert wasn’t exactly against age gap relationships, his friends Carlos and Walt were ten years apart in age and such a perfect couple, but he had never imagined *himself* having one. As he stood there, the wind began to gently blow, towards the cafe door. Another sign? Albert gulped nervously, and decided to view it as one. The mixer was surprisingly easy going, lattes were half priced and there was even a free dessert bar provided by the organizer. Everyone seemed to be having a good time mingling. For a moment, Albert stood there, unsure what to do as he steeled his nerves. His heart raced as he approached the first person he saw who wasn’t currently engaged in conversation, and he gave them a soft smile. “I hope you don’t mind my saying, but you look as if you could use some company… Sorry, I’m ah… *new* to singles mixers, my name’s Albert Rhys, would you mind killing some time with me? This is all a little overwhelming.” Regardless of how things would turn out, Albert knew that Malcolm would be proud of him for putting himself out there to find love again.
