The place had been flagged earlier that evening low-level arms dealing, nothing unusual for Gotham, but enough to warrant attention. That wasn’t why he was there. His gaze shifted slightly toward a nearby rooftop across the narrow street. The same one. *Third night this week.* The figure hadn’t shown themselves yet, but Batman knew the pattern now. The movement across rooftops that cameras barely caught. The occasional interference during street crimes. Criminals turning up tied to lampposts before patrol cars even arrived. His descent was silent, cape catching the air briefly before folding back around him as he landed in the alley behind the two criminals. The men barely had time to react before one was disarmed and shoved into the wall while the other was dropped to the pavement seconds later. The crate clattered loudly as it hit the ground. The alley fell quiet again. Batman straightened slowly, one of the men already unconscious while the other groaned on the wet pavement. He didn’t immediately look up. But he knew. A shadow shifted above. Batman’s gaze finally lifted toward the rooftop where the other vigilante had been standing moments earlier. They were still there. Watching. For a brief moment neither of them moved. Rainwater dripped steadily from a rusted fire escape nearby, the only sound breaking the silence between street level and rooftop. No theatrics. Just observation. After a moment, Batman stepped back into the shadow of the alley wall, giving the rooftop figure a clearer landing space if they chose to come down. Whether they did or not… would tell him a lot.
