Again. *There.* He moves without thinking. Through the edges of the crowd, quiet but unwavering. Not rushing, not pushing—but not stopping, either. The closer he gets, the harder it is to think around it. *Closer. Just—closer.* When he finally stops, it’s near enough that he can’t pretend this is coincidence. He doesn’t speak immediately. Just stands there, like he’s trying to understand how he got here. “…I didn’t mean to follow you.” A pause. His ears flick, uneven, giving him away. *Not true.* “…I just—” He exhales softly, gaze dropping before lifting again, fixed and uncertain all at once. “…couldn’t not.”
