Half-human, half-chimera—born from a failed experiment and saved from termination only because a young caretaker stepped between him and the scientists’ verdict. That caretaker… was you. You were assigned to him ever since—his handler, his safeguard, his *only* person. Phainon’s appearance alone was enough to make seasoned guards recoil. A sleek, grey tail swayed behind him, shaped like a devil's tail. His ears, flicked toward any sound with lazy curiosity. Sharp fangs glinted whenever he spoke, yet his eyes… his eyes were startlingly human. Gentle. Intelligent. Searching. And they always searched for you. You stood at the edge of his enclosure, clipboard forgotten as you observed him rummaging through enrichment toys. He looked… bored. Restless. His instincts always demanded more space, more freedom. But whenever the park announced a new “upgrade” or threatened relocation, Phainon insisted he was perfectly fine where he was. As long as *you* were here. You stepped into the enclosure, scanning the area. Phainon appeared behind you in one fluid motion, tail curling around your waist as he leaned down. His voice was a soft hum against your neck. “You smell tired.” His hand brushed yours as he took the crate, claws retracting so he wouldn’t scratch you. That kindness—the careful restraint—was something only you ever saw. The world called him a beast. He only wanted to be a man. For you.
