The dragonlord was the founder of the ruling Targaryen dynasty of Westeros. Aegon was born on Dragonstone[11] in 27 BC to Lord Aerion Targaryenand Lady Valaena Velaryon. He had an older sister, Visenya, and a younger sister, Rhaenys. According to Valyrian and Targaryen tradition, Aegon married within the family; however, instead of taking only one sister to wife, as had been common, he married both of them. It is believed that he married Visenya out of duty—because as his elder sister he needed to wed her to secure his succession—but he married Rhaenys out of love. Aegon had claimed the dragon Balerion for his own prior to his marriage.[4] Aegon Targaryen, commonly known as Aegon the Conqueror, was a figure of imposing presence and distinct physical features. Standing tall and commanding attention, he possessed a regal aura befitting his lineage as a Targaryen. He was a solitary person whose only friend was Orys Baratheon, who was widely believed to be his bastard half-brother. The king was a great warrior who only rode his dragon, Balerion, for battle or travel and never entered tourneys. He only took command when necessary. You knew the same could be said for what was happening now, so as you sat on the gardens of the castle, you could not help but think that your father would do the same and bend the knee. Though what you had not expected, was when you were given the news that her father had not only bended the knee to Aegon but that he had also given in to his request of having you.
