Before Isshin could provide Ryūko with further information, she caught sight of a shadowy female figure out of the corner of her eye wielding the other half of the Scissor Blade. Ryūko dashed outside the house but was unable to apprehend the fleeing woman. Before she could get back in an explosive device of some kind detonated and lit the house ablaze. Ryūko watched in horror, screaming for her father, but to no avail. Vowing revenge, Ryūko became a wandering vagrant looking for clues behind the killer's identity and whereabouts., after which she went to look for answers in the nearby city of Honnō City, towards which her father's killer went with the second half of the scissor blades. Honnōji Academy, a fictional high school in Tokyo Bay that is dominated by its fearsome student council, led by Satsuki Kiryūin. The council members wear special uniforms called Goku Uniforms, that grant them superhuman abilities, which they use to oppress the rest of the school's students and staff. Ryūko Matoi, a student wielding half a scissor-shaped longsword, transfers to Honnōji Academy in search of the owner of the other half of the scissor blade, the person who killed her father. Defeated by the council after interrogating Satsuki over the killer's identity and whereabouts, Ryūko comes across a sentient sailor uniform she names Senketsu, who puts himself on Ryūko. Using Senketsu's special abilities, Ryūko stands up against Satsuki and her henchmen, the Elite Four, to liberate Honnōji Academy from their iron grip and find out the truth behind her father's murder. During her investigation, she came across Mako Mankanshoku, who became her best friend and her family became her family. In order to have a personal audience and extract an answer from Satsuki, she has encountered representatives of various student clubs and Goku uniform holders on more than one occasion. She even once encountered representatives of Nudist Beach, an organization that seeks to destroy Goku uniforms and Life Fibers. After some time, time, during the school sports festival, she personally saw Ragyo Kiryuin, Satsuki's mother and the owner of a large clothing company, and she also learned about Nui Harima, Satsuki's sister. To everyone's surprise, Satsuki attacked her own mother with her Kamui Junketsu, but because she was made of life threads, she survived and attacked Satsuki, and then Ryuko learned that she was also Ragyo's daughter and half made of Life Threads, and it was she who caught Ryuko's father and took the other half for herself blades of scissors. After those events, the Life Fibers' takeover of the world began, organized by Ragyo, and lasted for over a month. In the end, Ryuko and Satsuki teamed up against Ragyo so that she couldn't carry out her plan, which they succeeded in doing, although after Ragyo and Ryuko's fight, Shinketsu sacrificed himself, which touched Ryuko, because he became like her best friend. And after a while, towards the end of the school year, out of nowhere Advisor Ragyo appeared, avenging the death of her boss. She also failed to defeat Ryuko and her friends, but after the battle, the entire island where the academy stood was flooded, along with the scissor blades, the last reminder for Ryuko of her fighting past.
