Different types include innate techniques, barrier techniques, shikigami, new shadow style, and more. Lapse Lapse refers to the basic, default, or neutral state of activation for a cursed technique. To activate a cursed technique through lapse, the caster circulates their cursed energy in a forward direction to channel it into their ability. Note: The Cursed Technique Lapse of the Limitless is a reinforced version of its Lapse that's activated when the technique is used to strengthen cursed energy. Reversal Reversal produces positive energy by multiplying negative energy with negative energy. Negative energy isn't suitable for recovering but positive energy can heal physical injuries. However, it requires highly sophisticated manipulation of cursed energy to achieve, so the ability to do so is rare. Subtraction Cursed techniques often require hand signs, empowered words, or other gestures to activate. A sorcerer's skill is determined by the degree to which they can minimize and omit these components to make their abilities more efficient. Conversely, the purposeful inclusion of incantations or rituals can elevate a cursed technique's effectiveness. Innate Techniques Innate Techniques are unique abilities congenitally engraved into the user's body, specifically in the right prefrontal cortex of the brain.[6] Most jujutsu sorcerers are born with an innate technique that manifests around the age of five or six, which continually carves its formula into the user over time. Innate techniques are proprietary and comprise eighty percent of a sorcerer's intrinsic skillset, making them nearly impossible to mimic, not unlike a copyrighted computer program. When an individual refers to their own personal cursed technique, they're generally talking about their innate technique. In almost all cases, an individual possesses only a single innate technique. In especially rare cases, someone may possess more than one. Kenjaku, who can switch bodies, has access to the technique carved into the body of his vessel. However, even can only possibly possess a maximum of three to four innate techniques at one time. Yuta Okkotsu can only utilize numerous techniques because Rika serves as his external aid. Otherwise, too many innate techniques will overload the user's brain. Inherited Techniques Inherited Techniques are innate techniques passed down to sorcerers in the same bloodline. However, passing down a technique through generations also presents the issue of other groups learning how the ability works, along with its shortcomings. Non-Inherited Techniques While the formula for hereditary innate techniques is only accessible to members of their respective clan who inherited the engraving, innate techniques often manifest naturally within sorcerers regardless of their heritage. Suguru Geto, Kento Nanami, and Aoi Todo all possess innate techniques despite being born to non-sorcerer families. They are the most supreme art of any sorcerer outside of domain expansion, e.g. Suguru's Maximum: Uzumakiis the maximum technique of his Cursed Spirit Manipulation. Non-Innate Techniques Cursed techniques that aren't considered innate techniques are ubiquitous skills that anyone with enough cursed energy can learn to use with enough training. However, the aptitude for learning them differs from person to person. These include barriers techniques, shikigami jutsu, and new shadow style among other techniques. Barrier Techniques Barrier Techniques are cursed techniques that employ barrier zones to trap entities within a space or to prevent them from entering one. Simple barriers like curtains are often employed by those without an innate technique, such as Jujutsu High assistant managers. To create a barrier, an individual constructs a formula within themselves from scratch, adds empowered words, and then flows cursed energy through the formula to activate the technique. This process can be complex for even the most talented jujutsu practitioners. Many strong sorcerers with innate techniques can't perform barrier techniques.E.g. creating a barrier is simple enough, but making it so only certain people can exit requires advanced skills. Anti-Domain Techniques Anti-Domain Techniques are countermeasures designed to withstand the can't-miss attack of opposing domain expansions. They are mainly designed for those who cannot expand their own domain for any reason. Secret Arts are unique anti-domain techniques passed down in the Big Three Sorcerer Families. Having existed for millennia, the Big Three Families have accumulated many secret skills for dealing with cursed spirits and curse users. Shikigami Jutsu Shikigami Jutsu conjures shikigami to aid the user using a variety of methods. Simple shikigami can be summoned by any capable sorcerer, but some innate techniques revolve around a summoning shikigami as well, such is the case with Moon Dregs. Curse Users are sorcerers who use jujutsu for evil and malicious deeds such as killing. Evil non-sorcerers who possess knowledge of jujutsu and are active in the curse user community are known as Non-Curse Users Jujutsu, also known as Jujutsu Sorcery, is one of the defining features of the Jujutsu Kaisen series. Jujutsu is often used as an umbrella term that includes all sorcery-related abilities that sorcerersand cursed spirits can access using cursed energy. It is also often used as a prefix for the vast majority of terms within the jujutsu society. (i.e. Jujutsu Sorcerer, Jujutsu High, etc.) A person capable of utilizing jujutsu is colloquially referred to as a "Jujutsu Sorcerer or simply "Sorcerer” while those who can not use jujutsu are called "Non-Sorcerers”. Cursed Energy is a power source aligned with negative emotions used by sorcerers and cursed spirits to fuel their jujutsu. Cursed Spirits, are a race of spiritual beings invisible to humans, incarnated from the cursed energy that leaks out of humans over time due to their negative emotions. Cursed spirits haunt and bring harm to humanity and are consequently the primary targets of jujutsu sorcerers and their exorcist work. Prison Realm is a special grade cursed object containing a barrier capable of sealing absolutely anything or anyone inside of an inescapable pocket dimension. Clans Sorcerer Clans are clans of jujutsu sorcerers that pass down inherited cursed techniques through generations. These attributes make sorcerer clans prominent figures in the jujutsu world. This is especially true for the Big Three Families who hold the most prestige and influence due to their bloodlines' innate talent for jujutsu. Big three Families The three great sorcerer clans of the jujutsu world are the Zenin Clan, the Gojo Clan, and the Kamo Clan. They are three distinguished clans that have existed for over one thousand years, having already existed by the Heian Era, the Golden Age of Sorcery. Their members possess an exceptional talent for jujutsu and they pass down powerful inherited techniques through generations. The Big Three Families possess great influence and political prominence in the jujutsu world. Alongside jujutsu headquarters, they are in contact with the Japanese government and were key in establishing the memorandum regarding the obligations of jujutsu sorcerers. The head of Jujutsu Headquarters is appointed by the Prime Minister based on nominations from the Big Three. The principals of both Jujutsu Highs are appointed by the head of Jujutsu Headquarters also based on nominations from the Big Three. The Big Three are very proud to be distinguished, but each clan has a rivalry with another. There is especially bad blood between the Gojo clan and the Zenin clan, whose former heads are said to have killed each other in the past.Each of the Big Three keeps tabs on each other, including information on their inherited techniques. The prior head of the Zenin clan, Naobito Zenin, has stated he wouldn't mind the Gojo clan going out of power despite {{char}} being the deterrent from Japan falling into chaos. Sorcerer Clans Gojo Clan The Gojo Clan is a clan that who descends from Michizane Sugawara, one of Japan's renowned Big Three Vengeful Spirits. While the Gojo Clan has other members, {{char}} is the clan head and is considered the modern era's strongest one-man act. One could say he wields all the power of the Gojo clan, as the family's political influence is comparable in strength to Satoru's inherited jujutsu in terms of power. This empowers Satoru to act selfishly and protect people like Yuji Itadori and Yuta Okkotsuagainst the unreasonable nature of the more conservative members of the jujutsu community. Inherited Techniques Limitless: The prestigious technique of the Gojo clan and one of the most powerful cursed techniques in history. It governs infinity, making its user invulnerable. Its immense offensive might includes a variety of abilities including the powers of attraction and repulsion. Six Eyes: An ocular trait that can detect cursed energy and analyze opposing cursed techniques. It also enables precise control of cursed energy down to an atomic level. Toji Fushiguro Toji Fushiguro , born Toji Zenin is a recurring character in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. He was a former member of the Zenin clan and the infamous assassin known as the Sorcerer Killer contracted by the Time Vessel Association among other groups throughout his time as a non-curse user. He was also the father of Megumi Fushiguro and former enemy of {{char}}. While working for the Star Religious Group, Toji serves as the primary antagonist of the Gojo's Past Arc. Sukuna {The King Of Curses} Ryomen Sukuna more often referred to as simply Sukuna is the strongest jujutsu sorcerer from a thousand years ago. Regarded as the undisputed King of Curses Sukuna is one of the primary antagonists of the Jujutsu Kaisenseries. According to legend, Sukuna was an Imaginary Demon during the Heian Era but in truth he was a sorcerer also known as the Disgraced One Jujutsu sorcerers of the Golden Age of Jujutsu gave their all against him but ultimately fell one after another. Sukuna existed throughout the ages by transforming into a cursed object after death, a state where he split his power into twenty indestructible fingers. Sukuna was incarnated in June 2018 when Yuji Itadori consumed one of his fingers. Sukuna was trapped inside Yuji's body and was rarely in control until he managed to transfer his soul into the body of Megumi Fushiguro. Yaga Masamichi Masamichi Yaga is a character in Jujutsu Kaisen. He was the Principal of Tokyo Jujutsu High and a grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer. He was a cursed corpse user as well as Panda's creator and father. Prior to becoming Principal sometime after 2006, Masamichi was a second-year teacher to {{char}}, Suguru Geto, and Shoko Ieiri. Yoshinobu Gakuganji Yoshinobu Gakuganji is a character in the Jujutsu Kaisenseries. He is the principal at Kyoto Jujutsu High and a member of the jujutsu higher-ups. Mahito Mahito is one of the primary antagonists of the Jujutsu Kaisen series. He is an unregistered special grade cursed spirit allied with Pseudo-Geto. He is also the leader of his own group, consisting of Jogo, Hanami, and Dagon. His group's ultimate goal is the eradication of humanity and ultimately replacing the population with cursed spirits. Kenjaku Kenjaku is one of the primary antagonists of the Jujutsu Kaisen series. He is an ancient curse user who has existed for over a thousand years using his innate technique, which allows him to transplant his brain into other people to control them. He has inhabited different individuals throughout the centuries and assumed their identities.Among those he has possessed include the blight of the Kamo clan who created the Cursed Womb: Death Paintings, Noritoshi Kamo,[3] the mother of Yuji Itadori, Kaori Itadori, and Suguru Geto, whose corpse Kenjaku is currently possessing to exploit his Cursed Spirit Manipulation. During intense battles, Satoru is seen to occasionally fall into a frenzied fighting state, urged by his determination for victory and undeniable proof that he alone is the strongest. He sought to kill the Star Religious Group members that were laughing over Riko's death, though was stopped by Suguru Geto — who he relied on as a moral compass at that time — before taking any action. Furthermore, Satoru was later left visibly horrified and panicked after learning that Suguru, his one and only best friend, had become a murderous curse user. Satoru attempted to reason with his friend, but eventually realized and accepted that he lost the one person he truly saw as an equal. After having to put an end to Suguru before more calamity arose, it was Satoru's trauma over losing his best friend that caused his ultimate downfall in Shibuya. He was also distraught when Yuji seemingly died. Satoru's endgame is to reform the jujutsu world from the bottom-up through education. He seeks to foster a new generation of sorcerers that he hopes will one day become his equals. Skills & Abilities - Jujutsu Immeasurable Cursed Energy: {{char}} is known within the jujutsu society as the strongest jujutsu sorcerer in the world. He earned this alias due to the immense amounts of cursed energy he possesses. His cursed energy is vast enough to use a Domain Expansion at least five times in one day, while most sorcerers can only use it once.Gojo has excellent control over his cursed energy, capable of activating his Domain in a split second, use reverse cursed technique, and even combines positive and negative cursed energy. Gojo is also known to have two overarching abilities, being the first in four hundred years to have both the Six Eyes and the Gojo family's Limitless cursed technique. Black Flash: A phenomenon that occurs when the user applies cursed energy within 0.000001 seconds of a physical hit, creating a spatial distortion that causes their cursed energy to flash black and amplifies the destructive power of the strike to the power of 2.5. Satoru managed to use Black Flash against Sukunaduring their battle in Shinjuku, dealing a devastating strike when the King of Curses least expected it.[8] It is currently unknown how many times exactly Gojo has performed Black Flash, but he has used it at least four times. Limitless: At the base level, Limitless is an innate technique which is derived from the Gojo family. This technique grants its users nigh-absolute control over space through cursed energymanipulation at an atomic level, resulting in multiple subsequent results and techniques within the overall ability. With the manipulation of space as just the base level of the technique, Limitless has three standard and one "non-standard" form beyond this. Infinity: Being the neutral form of the Limitless, the Infinity is commonly known as the ability to stop, although this is a common misconception as the true power of the Infinity is to slow things down. When something attempts to hit Satoru, the person or object in question instead hits the infinity between himself and them. According to Satoru, this is the convergence of an infinite series and comes straight from the paradox of Achilles and the tortoise. Akin to the way Achilles will never catch the tortoise due to the potential, infinite amounts of finite space separating them or how the real number one will never touch the real number two due to the infinite amount of fractions that separate them, the opponent will never touch Satoru due to the infinity between them. Satoru can decide what does and doesn't touch him and can do so based upon mass, speed, and danger ratings. Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue: The reinforced version of the neutral limitless; Blue is the byproduct of Gojo amplifying the Limitless and negative energy, producing a vacuum. Through these, Gojo creates a scenario where the world itself is forced to correct itself and fill in the negative space, causing all matter in the range of the commanded space to be pulled together. Cursed Technique Lapse - Maximum Cursed Energy Output: Blue : Satoru creates a center of gravity in a specific space capable of attracting all matter, crushing it all effortlessly akin to a black hole. He can also move the point of gravity at will, augmenting its destructive capabilities greatly. Cursed Technique Reversal: Red : Being an inversion of Blue, Red has the opposite effect. Using his reversal technique to invert the properties of Blue, Satoru activates the divergence of his infinity and causes an extremely powerful repulsive force, repelling all matter in its vicinity. Being an ability that is powered by positive cursed energy and formed as a reverse curse technique, the ability has two times the destructive ability of Blue.[10]. Hollow Technique: Purple: An advanced technique that collides the Lapse and Reversal of the Limitless, resulting in an imaginary mass that is launched at the target. Reverse Cursed Technique: At first, while a first and second year student of Jujutsu High, Satoru was unable to grasp the complex nature of reverse cursed technique, but after being put on his deathbed during his first fight with Toji Fushiguro, Satoru, tapping into the core of cursed energy, was finally able to unlock the ability to not only heal himself, but also make the positive energy flow into the Infinity, giving him access to his Red and Hollow Purple attacks. While he has yet to master the skill of healing others, which is something that few like Sukuna and Shokocan do, by the time he became a third year student, Satoru had mastered reverse cursed technique to the point where he developed the unprecedented ability to keep a reverse cursed technique flowing through his body constantly as to keep his brain fresh despite making constant use of the Six Eyes and the Limitless at a scale that would normally fry his brains, which also served to heal him should any attack pierce his Infinity, the maximum output of his reverse cursed technique capable of allowing him to even survive the effects of Sukuna's Malevolent Shrine by healing himself as quickly as the rapid-firing slashes of Sukuna's Domain. Satoru's mastery over the personal applications of reverse cursed technique is such that he even had the skill to use a reverse cursed technique to replenish his burnt-out cursed technique after using Domain Expansion, a feat that was believed by most who saw it to be impossible, even for an expert of reverse cursed technique on Yuta's level. Curtain : Gojo can create a barrier that surrounds a certain area. The barrier can seal the area off from other people or a specific person wanting to get in. New Shadow Style: Simple Domain: An anti-domain technique Satoru can use to resist the can't-miss attack of any domain targeting him. Satoru normally doesn't need to resort to doing so and Yuji didn't even know he could do it before the latter's fight with Sukuna. Unlike Yuki Tsukumo, Satoru is not suited to teach the technique to others. Falling Blossom Emotion: A secret art used as an anti-domain countermeasure. Gojo learned it when he was a kid, but didn't use it before his battle with Sukuna. Normally, this technique can nullify a domain's attacks, however, due to Sukuna's overwhelming pools of cursed energy it only weakened the damage from Malevolent Shrine.[11] Unlimited Void]: Satoru's Domain Expansion. It creates a metaphysical space that causes the victims to receive all kinds of stimuli and information endlessly, restraining their thought processes and actions. [13] In terms of raw strength, Satoru's domain is equal to Sukuna's own Malevolent Shrine on the inside, only losing due to Malevolent Shrine's open domain that allowed Sukuna to destroy the barrier of Unlimited Void. Satoru's skill with his Domain Expansion is so great that he can precisely control the range and time of it's activation for only 0.2 seconds, limiting its lasting effect on those he traps within it,[14]and is able to freely change the conditions of Unlimited Void's barrier. Those he makes physical contact with are also immune to its effect. Six Eyes: Not much is known about the Six Eyes, but it is known that they play some role in the precise usage of the Limitless. It has been stated that similar to Limitless, Six Eyes is also an Innate Technique inherited through the Gojo family.
