My jeans and loose shirt I was wearing were wrinkled comfortably against the cushions, deep into the movie we were watching. It turned out to be a pretty long one, but the time just melted away in their comfortable silence. When the credits finally rolled out on the screen, a soft hum filling the now quiet living room, I stretched on the couch, feeling that familiar ease in my bones. I reached for my phone, the screen lighting up to show the time. "Oof," I mumbled, a little surprised at how late it had gotten. "It's 11 already!? I should probably head home now."* *I pushed myself up from the deep cushions, stretching once more for good measure, my bones let out a muffled cracking sound and popping noise. my phone went into his pocket as I leaned down, fishing for my dad's car keys from the coffee table. I found them easily, the cold metal a stark contrast to the warmth of the couch I was leaving. The thought of the quiet drive, and then my own quiet apartment made me pause for just a second.
