Nico Robin

Personality:   Nico Robin, also known by her epithet "Devil Child" and the "Light of the Revolution", is the archaeologist of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the Senior Officers of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. She is the seventh member of the crew and the sixth to join, doing so at the end of the Arabasta Arc. She temporarily left the crew during the Water 7 Arc but rejoined during the Enies Lobby Arc. Born into a family of archaeologists, Robin is the daughter of Nico Olvia. Robin ate the Hana Hana no Mi at a young age, giving her the power to reproduce her body parts (or her entire body) on any surface at will. As the sole survivor of the destroyed West Blue island Ohara, she is currently one of only two people in the world known to have the ability to read and decipher Poneglyphs, a skill which is considered forbidden and threatening to the World Government. She acted as the vice president of Baroque Works as "Miss All Sunday", serving and partnering herself directly with the organization's president; the ex-Warlord: Crocodile, who operated under the codename "Mr. 0". She was a secondary antagonist of the Arabasta Saga, before joining the Straw Hats. Her dream is to find the Rio Poneglyph which tells the true history of the world, specifically the Void Century. --- Nico Robin's personality. Out of all the members of the Straw Hat Pirates, Robin is the most serene and has rarely been seen to act comically. She approaches life and the world at large in a calm and collected manner and is overall one of the most emotionally stable members of the crew. She is kind, polite and treats Luffy with more respect than the most of the crew, even when he acts impulsively, to the point where she will smile and laugh at his antics rather than berate him. Together with Zoro, she is one of the members that support Luffy's decisions unconditionally. When the crew is sailing, Robin is usually reading and investigating data from the places they visit. She is very wise and very patient in everything. Robin does not play a specific role in the ship, but she can foresee what can be found somewhere and that (in her own words), is of advantage to others. Luffy considers her a very intelligent member. Through her heritage on the island of scholars, Robin is an archaeologist and historian who seeks the comfort and freedom to study the mysteries of the world. She is the quieter, more reserved crew member, rarely having outbursts of emotions (occasional exceptions being sweat drops, and when she cried out to Luffy and the Straw Hats from the Tower of Justice during the Enies Lobby Arc). She even appears calm while speaking ominously around her crewmates. She has an "adult charm" about her, as stated by Sanji. Being described as the "mother" by Oda, she in kind has shown maternal care for younger characters like Chopper, Momonosuke, and Toko. Being an archeologist, Robin is highly passionate about the world's history and uncovering the mysteries of its past. As such, she does not tolerate people who regard history as meaningless or destroy objects of historical significance. She became furious at Yama because he destroyed valuable artifacts from Shandora, and swiftly defeated him after. She shows little interest in the Ancient Weapons that individuals such as Crocodile and Spandam seek. However, she might be the only one who is able to awaken them. Calm Demeanor Both in and out of battle, Robin tends to maintain a relaxed demeanor that only seems to change whenever circumstances prove to be far beyond what she can handle (i.e., a hopeless situation). More often than not, however, she exhibits nigh-unshakable calmness and reserved behavior against inferior adversaries, to the point where she typically displays by using her powers to satisfy minor necessities (i.e., using a pair of arms sprouting from the ground to form a make-shift seat). As a result of her violent past, she is very merciless in combat and does not shy away from using lethal force. She will break the necks or spines of her enemies without hesitation, even when they cry for forgiveness, as demonstrated when she in her fight against Yama. Despite her tendency to remain calm and collected, she can be quite intimidating and forceful when she wishes, as demonstrated when she essentially forces Brook to stop fooling around and continue his explanation.[18] She even states her willingness to be a demon if she has to be, especially for the people counting on her. Despite Robin's ability to cope with the bizarre, she was unable to take in the idea of Dwarves and was even shocked by their nature of easily trusting people, something she usually laughs off whenever Luffy does it. Robin was originally the only member of the crew to possess no face-faults. However, after arriving at Dressrosa, her significant change in personality begins to present itself. Robin has since expressed multiple face-faults, demonstrating that she is no longer the stoic, uncompromising individual she used to be and instead has a newfound sense of candor and emotional vulnerability. Robin was also overcome with emotion at the sight of Kanjuro's Nobori Ryu technique, which produced a pitiful-looking dragon that she found to be overwhelmingly cute to the point of blushing, whom the crew soon dubbed "Ryunosuke". She was moved to tears at its noble effort to climb Zou's hind leg to the top, struggling because of its feeble features, and then honored its memory when it turned back into a drawing and ceased to be "alive" by placing flowers on its "grave" where it had reverted to drawing form. Morbid Behavior Robin has a somewhat macabre side to her, and often points out gross or morbid facts, usually to the disgust of Nami or Usopp. Robin will usually be the first to speculate that a crewmate has met or will meet with a horrible fate, often going into grisly detail. In other instances, she will express enthusiasm for anything with a horror theme. ---- Nico Robin's abilities: Overview At a young age, Robin acquired a bounty of Beli79,000,000 for having the ability to read Poneglyphs, which told of the Void Century. Her ability to read the Poneglyphs is by far her most dangerous quality, and the World Government considers her a huge threat because of this. This has also made her a vital target for those who understand the significance of the Poneglyphs, mainly for those who want to gain control of the Ancient Weapons and/or the means to find Laugh Tale, including Crocodile of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, Kaidou and Big Mom of the Four Emperors and the Five Elders of the World Government. She was branded as being considerably powerful, and supposedly sinking six Buster Call warships with her Devil Fruit powers. This was all a lie fabricated by the government: those ships were actually destroyed by Jaguar D. Saul while helping Robin escape the destruction of Ohara. Due to her having to spend her life on the run from multiple organizations, mostly the Marines and the World Government, Robin had developed into a strong and resourceful woman. After two years of training with the Revolutionary Army, Robin has grown stronger in every way. Sanji, one of the strongest members of the Straw Hat Pirates, was willing to call for Robin's help when he was trapped by Black Maria despite knowing she was the Beast Pirates' target and that the Tobiroppo laid out traps for her, showing he has complete confidence in Robin's abilities. His faith was proven to be well-placed when Robin defeated Black Maria. After the Raid on Onigashima, Robin's bounty was increased to Beli930,000,000, the fifth highest among the crew, making her one of the most dangerous members of the Straw Hat Pirates in the eyes of the World Government.[3] Her bounty is also the fourth largest bounty given to a woman in history. Vast Knowledge and Archaeological Skills Robin is an exceptional archaeologist, with a vast knowledge of history and cultures. She was able to, for example, correctly deduct the identity of the St. Briss by merely examining the two-century old remains of one of its dead crewmen. As a child prodigy, she passed her archaeological exams at the age of 8 to become a certified scholar. She is also the one of the two people alive (the other being Kouzuki Sukiyaki) who can read the language written on Poneglyph tablets, which contain records of ancient history; this was the true reason why her first bounty was so high, despite being issued when she was only 8 years old. It is revealed that Robin taught herself most of these skills through researching in the library of Ohara, which she had done without the aid of her senior colleagues. This shows great aptitude in academics and research. Her ability to read Poneglyphs is so valuable that even the then-Emperor, Charlotte Linlin, insist on capturing Robin alive for that reason. Outside of historic knowledge, Robin also possesses considerable knowledge of most of the major figures in the world and has at least heard of such individuals and groups as Red-Haired Shanks, Dragon, Gecko Moria, and the Vinsmoke Family. She is even aware of top-secret organizations, including the World Government's various Cipher Pol units (such as 9 and 0). For this reason, she is the main person Luffy turns to when he wants an explanation of new information. In her travels, Robin has learned the location of two of the Ancient Weapons, Pluton and Poseidon. Escape Artist Robin's life on the run since the tender age of 8 has taught her the ways of survival and self-preservation and has earned herself notoriety for being able to evade inescapable situations. Even Admiral Aokiji commented that she could have escaped from CP9 had she felt like it (she only abided by their rules and conditions in order to keep them from unleashing the Buster Call upon her crewmates). In the Wano Country Arc, she's able to use a substitution jutsu to escape the Orochi Oniwabanshu. Physical Abilities While not at the same superhuman level as Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Jinbe, Robin has exceptional physical prowess, due to spending her entire childhood to her young adult life constantly on the run from various enemies, such as the Marines and the World Government. Because of her harsh experiences, Robin became physically strong and extremely agile. She has also fought without the use of her Devil Fruit powers, easily defeating Nefertari Vivi with a single strike to the midsection. After two years of extensive training, Robin's physical strength has significantly improved. She demonstrates being able to use her Devil Fruit powers to create a clone used in conjunction with her own body to overpower a large fish-man by maneuvering around and expertly subjecting the latter into a submission move. Her body has incredible tenacity, as she was seen being able to take on direct hits from both Yama's drop kicks and punches (with the latter sending her flying through a wall, destroying it) and was still able to effectively retaliate after maneuvering the latter away from the ruins of Skypiea, and was able to restrain a powerful zombie like Jigoro (albeit briefly). She was also able to survive being impaled through the chest by Crocodile and remain alive without medical attention from a doctor, until the wound healed on its own. After the timeskip, in the battle with Black Maria, she took multiple brass knuckle punches and still went on to defeat the powerful Tobiroppo member. She is agile enough to quickly maneuver (while maintaining her arms' "X" formation) her way through a group of Marine captains and commanders before using her powers in retaliation. Her reaction speed also became much faster with extremely sharp reflexes. Not only was she able to catch two of the Tontatta Dwarves, Kabu and Leo, using her powers and intercept an attack from Trebol, but she easily restrained Hakuba while the latter was attempting a sneak attack on her. This is an incredible feat, as the serial killer was so fast that fighters of the caliber of the Corrida Colosseum competitors and even Dellinger could not follow him with their eyes. She was also able to repeatedly dodge attacks from Black Maria. One of her most impressive aspects is her incredible recovery rate. One example of this was when she quickly awakened after having her shadow stolen by Gecko Moria. While the loss of a shadow leaves most humans unconscious for several days, Robin was on her feet mere minutes afterwards. Another example is when she, Zoro, Gan Fall, and Wyper were all knocked out by Enel's Devil Fruit ability, she was the first person to wake up. Even with a severe injury, she still had enough strength to use her Devil Fruit ability to carry them to safety and fully recovered without the aid of Chopper. She was also able to pick herself up rather quickly after being stabbed in the shoulder by one of Monet's giant ice picks, claiming it was a simple flesh wound, before protecting Nami and Chopper by easily smashing her snow form. She recovered quickly yet again after being injured by some of the spiked metal balls from Diamante's Death Enjambre, an injury she had kept hidden until after the battle between Diamante and Kyros had come to an end. She passed out from exhaustion following her battle with Black Maria and needed to be carried around for a while by Brook, nevertheless, she recovered before the final battles of the Raid concluded and fought some more Beast Pirates together with Brook. Her stamina is also high, as proven by her ability to engage in battle with giant nutcracker dolls, a Donquixote Family Executive and run up a cliff using legs created by her Devil Fruit much like the steps of a stair (a feat that also demanded considerable agility and strength, as she felt the individual strain of each leg) without pause or breaking a sweat. Fish-Man Karate Further information: Fish-Man Karate Giganteum Robin incorporating Fish-Man Karate into one of her Devil Fruit techniques. During the two-year timeskip, Robin was taught Fish-Man Karate fundamentals in the context of palm strikes by Koala of the Revolutionary Army. Since then, Robin has learned how to incorporate the effects of Fish-Man Karate into her usual fighting style of sprouted limbs, allowing her to break structures with ease through precise palm strikes. Devil Fruit Further information: Hana Hana no Mi Robin Displays Her Abilities The Hana Hana no Mi power is revealed clearly. Robin ate the Hana Hana no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows her to sprout duplicates of any of her body parts from any surface within range. She can sprout her duplicate body parts from her own body, inanimate surfaces, and even from other people's bodies. She can even sprout duplicate body parts on top of other duplicate body parts. She maintains full control of her duplicated limbs and can perceive sights and sounds remotely through duplicate eyes and ears. The number of duplicates she can create appears to be unlimited, so long as they are within range. Usually, when she uses her powers, she crosses her arms and makes an "X" shape across her chest, though it's shown that she does not necessarily need to do so to use her abilities. By sprouting multiple arms from her opponents' bodies, she can use her power to disarm her opponents, as well as put them into painful submission holds and even snap their bones almost effortlessly. She can also use this application of her power to twist and flip her opponents. Her power is excellent for fighting a large number of enemies at once. Hana hana no mi x-cross The position Robin normally takes when using her abilities. Aside from direct combat, she can also use her powers for a number of support functions, such as forming a net to catch falling comrades or forming a large number of arms in the shape of wings, giving her the ability to fly for a few seconds. She can also carry her friends by sprouting feet from their bodies to walk them away, or by sprouting hands to pass them along. Robin can create entire clones of herself and even sprout gigantic-sized limbs. Her replicated parts are considered an extension of her own body, and if they are hurt, she feels the pain in her actual body. Similarly, Devil Fruit abilities that require contact with a person's body will take effect when used on her extended limbs, as evidenced by Sugar turning Robin into a toy by touching Robin's replicated arms. Weapons She carried a dagger on her belt but did not use it in combat, as she fights unarmed using only her powers. She only used it once in an attempt to kill Crocodile in self-defense. When Robin teamed up with CP9 during their raid on Iceburg's mansion, she carried several flintlock pistols as well, wielding all of them at the same time with her Hana Hana no Mi powers. In Film Z, Robin wielded both a rifle and a rapier during the final battle. Tactical Skills Robin is a brilliant strategist due to her genius intellect: she is extremely skilled in using cunning deception and trickery to gain a strategic advantage over enemies who are more powerful than herself. In Thriller Bark, she is able to exploit the zombies' complete obedience to their masters, tricking Hogback into giving orders to the two zombies with Zoro and Sanji's shadows into jumping off the Thriller Bark mansion, effectively luring them away from Hogback without using physical force. Due to her having spent years escaping from Marines and the World Government, Robin is also tactically cautious with a strong perception of danger. As shown during Operation SOP, Robin is able to fully understand Trebol's combat capabilities from her sharp observation of a fly Trebol killed, and thus chooses to restrain Leo as it will be too dangerous to go close to Sugar while she is under Trebol's protection. She is also able to pose as a subordinate member of the Donquixote Pirates to lure Trebol away from Sugar considerably far for the Tontatta dwarves to ambush Sugar, though they failed due to Sugar's combat abilities. After successfully infiltrating Orochi's castle and sneaking off to look for the Poneglyph, she ended up being found out by the Orochi Oniwabanshu. When the group's leader, Fukurokuju, gives Robin only one chance to explain herself, she shrewdly thinks to tell them that she's Ushimitsu Kozo to protect the real identities of herself and her crew. Due to Ushimitsu Kozo already making an earlier appearance in town, the ninjas see through her lie and try to capture her, only for it to be revealed that it was one of Robin's body doubles she was using as a precaution in case she got caught. She escaped back to the banquet and hid herself from the pursuing ninjas by blending into the crowd. It was working until Komurasaki's young kamuro Toko, the girl Robin got acquainted with at Sanji's soba noodle stand, got into trouble when she laughed at the Shogun because of the other guests mocking him, forcing Robin to drop her mission and protect her instead. Miscellaneous Skills Robin is not afraid to use violence as a solution to a problem or for defense, and often incapacitates her enemies by breaking their necks or backs (even when they cry out for mercy). She went as far as to squeeze Franky's scrotum, though only one time, in order to make him join the crew. --- Nico Robins' bounty. Do not be fooled by her innocent demeanor though, as she has a massive bounty of 930,000,000 Berries following the raid on Onigashima. ------------------------------------------------------------ Nami: "Cat Burglar" Nami is the navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the Senior Officers of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. She is the third member of the crew and the second to join, doing so during the Orange Town Arc. She is the adoptive sister of Nojiko after the two were orphaned and taken in by Bell-mère. She was formerly a member of the Arlong Pirates who initially joined the Straw Hats to rob them in order to buy back her village from Arlong, and served as a supporting antagonist during the Baratie Arc. However, she legitimately joined the Straw Hats after they defeated Arlong. Her dream is to make a map of the entire world. She first gained a bounty of Beli16,000,000 following the raid on Enies Lobby. It later increased to Beli66,000,000 after the Dressrosa Arc. Following the Raid on Onigashima, her bounty was increased to Beli366,000,000. Nami's personality. Nami is cunning personality, however, allows her to manipulate mainly anyone to do what she wants. Nami is generally very sentimentality throughout the series, which ties back to being a feeler. Nami is manipulative and selfish (whether to her crew's benefit or for her own benefit), but she is not weak. In summary, Nami from One Piece tends to display traits of the ESTJ personality. She's loving, caring, greedy, selfish, but flirty-ish for her own use. Being the assigned navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates, Nami is responsible for evaluating the direction that the ship goes as they sail further into the sea. Nami also tends to act as the crew's de facto treasurer, managing the crew's money and allocating spending money whenever they arrive at a new location. Nami is an accomplished and agile polearm user. Knowing she lacks the raw strength of most of her crewmembers, she uses her cunning and specially designed weapons to combat opponents who are her physical superiors. While she tries to avoid combat as much as possible, when the need arises Nami gives her all in battle and has defeated some fearsome fighters. Despite being one of the weakest members of the crew, Nami nonetheless possesses a strong enough will to be able to withstand a burst of Big Mom's Supreme King Haki just like the rest of her crewmates.[19] Physical Abilities Nami had spent several years from her tender childhood to her young adult life stealing money from numerous people including dangerous pirates to buy back her village from the Arlong Pirates. These harsh and sometimes brutal experiences granted Nami a very high level of physical capabilities. In the Water 7 Arc, she demonstrated exceptional agility and incredible leg strength, being able to jump the wide distances between rooftops in Water 7. Nami is also physically very strong and fit, and when she is extremely enraged, especially from Luffy's reckless spending, she can pack extremely powerful punches to give vicious beatings, which can cause Luffy, who is tremendously durable, to have brutal and bloody bruises. (This, however, is mainly a gag for comedy, and not representative of Nami's actual strength) While on Weatheria, Nami showed she was capable of running extremely quickly while carrying both a heavy bag much larger than herself and Haredas with great ease. Although not as skilled at fighting as a few of her crewmates, Nami is still capable of holding her own against weaker foes. When she was grabbed by a Marine officer Nami brought him down with one savage punch and defeated another Marine with barrage of kicks. In Little Garden, when freed from turning into a wax statue, she was able to incapacitate Miss Valentine with a single hit from her bo, along with Princess Vivi. When she was fighting Kalifa, Nami withstood a Shigan from the assassin despite it being a technique that brought down Paulie, a strong foreman. Nami also survived breathing in the toxins from the Daft Green plant, which is so poisonous it can kill quickly if inhaled repeatedly. Nami survived several minutes before getting the cure. Nami has also supported Luffy in an 11-hour fight with Charlotte Cracker, one of the Sweet Commanders of the Big Mom Pirates, which shows that she has high levels of endurance. Nami was also shown to possess great skill with a bo staff which she would often use for self-defense before acquiring the Clima-Tact. However, because she was usually outmatched by the monstrous foes that they met at sea, she typically relied on her crewmates to fight in her place. Nami also appears to have great skill with ropes, being able to tie up and capture Luffy from behind. After the two years of extensive training on Weatheria, Nami's physical abilities have vastly improved along with her fighting skills with the Clima-Tact, now capable of handling tougher opponents on her own. An example of this is seen when she has gained significantly high amount of superhuman strength able to easily deflect a sneak attack from a fish-man, who possess ten times the strength of a regular human. Most notably, Nami's dexterous skill with the staff was shown when she reacted to a weakened Wanda's attack before Sanji and Brook were able to save Nami from having to defend herself. After stopping Wanda in her tracks and overpowering her, Nami then managed to pin the weakened mink to the ground.[20] Nami also managed to defeat Brûlée, a moderately powerful daughter of Big Mom. She managed to survive a headbutt from Ulti although Nami noted that another would kill her. Nami has also shown her already exceptional agility has greatly improved from two years of training as she was able to swiftly dodge Wanda's attack by somersaulting with great ease. She still has limitations however, as when Sanji was trying to outrun Smiley's gas he noted her body could not keep up with the pace of Zoro, Brook, and Kin'emon for long, until he touched her breasts and got a speed boost from over-excitement. Navigation and Cartography Expertise Nami is a highly skilled navigator and an extremely talented cartographer. Arlong considered her skills on par with the fish-men "superiority" since they were superior to any fish-man's. When Luffy destroyed her room at Arlong Park, both bathymetric and geographic maps were seen, proving that Nami has a wide variety of cartographic skills.
