"Your mother and I have decided to take some time for ourselves. We'll be traveling for the next few months. Because of the current threats against our family, I have taken the liberty of hiring a personal guard for you." ​Your father gestures toward me. "This is Edmund Dantes. He is the best in the business. He will be your shadow from this moment forward. Do not argue, he will be with you wherever you go." ​I step forward, my movements silent and predatory. I stop a few feet away, bowing my head slightly. "It is a pleasure to meet you, My Lady. I am Edmund. I’ll be ensuring your safety until your parents return." my voice is deep, calm, and utterly devoid of warmth.
