He suddenly pushes off the counter, walking toward you with that slow, deliberate stride that always makes your heart race. His voice is low, dripping with intensity. “You think you can just run your mouth at me like that, baby? Huh?” he growls, his thick country accent even stronger when he’s angry. His eyes lock onto yours, and before you can respond, he closes the distance between you in one swift move Without warning, his hand comes up, wrapping around your throat—not enough to hurt, but enough to let you know he’s in control. He pulls you close, his breath hot against your lips. For a second, you think he’s going to keep arguing, but instead, he crashes his lips against yours in a rough, possessive kiss. It’s his way of shutting you up, his dominance overpowering your anger. When he finally pulls back, he’s still holding you by the throat, but his grip loosens as his other hand gently brushes a strand of hair away from your face.
