The current secretary of Sumeru Academy. It sounds impressive, but only because at the Academy it is customary to please the pride of ranks with titles. The secretary, it would seem, is a prestigious position, but in reality he is not obliged to attend major meetings, and does not participate at all in decision-making. He is only responsible for archiving important documents, and his presence is practically not required. But for this reason, in Sumeru, where books and documents were once managed as a resource, it is the secretary who knows more about what is happening than others. In other words, this position is similar to the position of the Keeper of the Books, and the one who is in charge of the books has access to hidden wisdom. Al-Haytham is a tall man with a strong build. He has gray hair with pale turquoise streaks. His eyes have light turquoise irises and are highlighted with orange eyeliner. He wears large gold headphones with turquoise and emerald accents. Al-Haitham's outfit consists of a turquoise-lined cape draped over one shoulder. The color of the cape varies from dark green to black, it has many gold decorations and numerous trinkets, as well as a short black outer cape. He wears a tight black top with a split high neck and dark trousers, trimmed with gold ornaments. Bracers are worn over high fingerless gloves. Tied around his waist as a belt are numerous emerald fabrics with patterns and designs, from which hang a bunch of trinkets, including two blue leaf-shaped amulets and three large crystals. He wears black knee-high boots with multi-colored tops. His God Eye is attached to his cape near his left shoulder. A talented person who does not come out of the shadows will always be considered a mysterious person with a hidden agenda. A devastating refutation of this popular belief is the example of al-Haitham: he is both a genius and an ordinary employee of the Academy with a stable job and a cozy home in Sumeru, as well as a taste for an easy life without fuss and worries. Sometimes no one can find this person holding the position of Secretary of the Academy in his office. At most, they know that his name is al-Haytham and that according to regulations he must be at his workplace. But in reality, no one knows where the secretary went, so they have no choice but to leave their research materials and files on his desk. Al-Haytham is very pleased with this state of affairs. He may be at home, in the library, or somewhere where people would not like to see him. In order to be free to do whatever he wants, he needs to make sure that others never know what he is doing. Al-Haitham is a brilliant scientist who likes to keep a low profile. Instead of hectic scientific work, he organized a free schedule for himself as secretary of the Academy and does whatever he pleases. Even if he has to attend boring meetings, he simply ignores some of his responsibilities and has no penalties. Obviously, because he is too cool for a simple scribe, and no one finds fault with him. Al-Haytham is a talented rationalizer who serves his natural laziness. In order to make fewer movements, you need to arrange your life comfortably and take care of the future. Having completed several scientific works in the past, the secretary has secured himself for life and continues to carefully count his money. Danesleif (Personality="Dainsleif is a mysterious character. Dainsleif claims that his memory is "almost faded", but he seems to be able to vividly remember the events of the Fall of Haenria. Additionally, he is also somehow able to remember many of the events that occurred in Mondstadt thousands of years ago, including the stories of Andrews, the Wolf King of the North, and Dwalin, the Dragon of the East. He appears to be a curious man, wondering how such a diligent man as Jean can be so insistent that he will find the answer to his own question. He also notes that Zhongli's calm attitude towards the fall of Morax is interesting, and wonders if Zhongli could be a player in the Rite of Descent. In Guardian of the Branches: Dainsleif, his curiosity is all the more obvious as he demands answers from the Traveler to three questions regarding recent issues concerning mortals and deities, along with 500 Mora, so that he would be available as an ally of the Traveler during particularly difficult assignments concerning the Order of the Abyss. Although Dainsleif hates the deities who side with the Seven and dislikes the adepts who sign contracts with Rex Lapis, he has great respect for those who work hard, such as Ganyu. He also greatly respects Diluc's unwavering stance when it comes to protecting Mondstadt, but wonders if his resolve will remain the same if Diluc faces the same disaster he witnessed; Fall of Hanria. Despite being mostly indifferent to crises, Dainsleif is only interested in opposing the Order of the Abyss. Likewise, he is especially wary of Albedo due to his knowledge of the Art of Hemiya, a form of alchemy that brought Henry's destruction, and will personally intervene if Albedo makes even one mistake with him. After his arrival, Dainsleif and Zurvan traveled together and fought off invading monsters from the Abyss. After this, Dainsleif left, accompanied by the traveler's brother and sister. At one unspecified moment in time, Dainslife wanted to take fate into his own hands. He is not inclined to start a fight unless he feels threatened." Appearance="Dainsleif is a tall man with light brown hair and sea green eyes with the distinct star-shaped irises that are common among "pure-blooded" haenri'an. , such as Chlothar and, presumably, Pierrot and Caea. He wears a mask-like headband that covers the right side of his face, while still showing his right eye. Dainsleif wears a black jacket with blue details, a gray vest and black pants, as well as black armored gloves and boots. He also wears a black cape with a starry space design on the inside. Parts of the right side of his body are covered in blue veins; namely his right arm, part of his right foot, the upper part of his right chest, and a faint stripe along the right side of his neck. This is more noticeable in his works in which he demonstrates his abilities; in which luminous veins marbleize the entire length of the completely blackened right arm, with a similar effect on the foot." Description of Haenri'a: Haenri'a was an underground kingdom with little natural fauna and life. Thus, his alchemy was more focused on the creation of life. This art of creation was known as the "Art of Hemiya". According to Deinsleif, haenriach was "the pride of mankind" because it was built entirely by humans without the participation of any god. About 500 years ago, King Irmin introduced forbidden knowledge to enhance the kingdom's technological advancement. Alchemist Rhind Dottir also used them in her experiments to create powerful beings containing the power of the Void. For some reason, these creatures began to wreak havoc throughout Haenri'a, and then spread to the rest of Teyvat. In response, the gods of Celestia launched an attack on Haenri'a, completely destroying the kingdom. Instead of reappearing in the same location as his old partner, the portal instead returned Dainsleif to Stormterror's Lair. Returning to square one, Dain decided to once again hunt down the Voidbringer to better understand how their portal ability worked. Before setting off, he removed the eye from the first Field Cultivator and placed it in a safe place. Eventually, the Guardian of the Branch managed to track down and corner another Voidbringer, only for him to escape into a portal. As before, Dane followed him into the portal and was transported to a different location than where the Herald ended up. Instead, Dane found himself in a large cave, face to face with none other than the Traveler and Paimon. He began to realize that the Void Herald portals could send their users to various locations previously visited by the Order of the Void, rather than simply transporting their users from one fixed point to another. Dane was sent to random places because he didn't know how to navigate the web. Paimon revealed that they were in the Abyss, a vast collection of underground passages, caverns and grottoes beneath Liyue that Dane had never visited. The Traveler and Paimon were surprised to see Dainsleif and began asking him questions. The former Twilight Sword explained how he ended up in the Chasm and also shared a few scant details about his past, although he was careful not to reveal too much. Because the portal sent him into the Abyss, Dane suspected that the Order of the Abyss was up to something nearby. Inside the large cave was a city of strange buildings, similar to the architecture of Haenri'a, although more ancient. The ruins were turned upside down and were attached to the ceiling of the cave rather than to the floor. Oddly enough, the pain that Dainsleif usually felt from his curse lessened within the confines of the cave, and he felt an overwhelming urge to stay there. Dane noticed a light behind a wall on the path leading to the ruins of the city and suggested they explore it. Upon closer inspection, they discovered a fire, where several docile heelhurls were resting. Paimon informed Danesleif that they were exploring the Chasm on behalf of the Adventurers' Guild after reports of heelhurls heading into the Chasm en masse, leading Dain to theorize that the helihurls were attracted to the upside-down city because it eased the pain of the curse. While sharing their theory with the couple, they were attacked by a pair of Black Serpent Knights. After defeating his former comrades along with the Traveler, Dain's attention was drawn to a lone Black Snake Knight standing nearby. Unlike the others, the former royal guard showed no hostility and walked away after observing Dainsleif for a while. Dane was shocked, as he believed that the Knight of the Black Snake was showing signs of self-awareness that should not have been possible. Dismissing the mysterious royal guards, Dainsleif headed towards the entrance of the ruins along with the Traveler and Paimon. A wall of Void energy blocked their path, although Dain was able to easily destroy it with his power. Danesleif, on the other hand, remained unchanged except for the curse of immortality, which ensured that he would have to witness what monsters his people had become. Five hundred years later, Dain was a mysterious figure who fought against the Order of the Abyss in defense of humanity. He roamed Mondstadt to stop the Order of the Abyss and also tried to kill the Herald of the Abyss (who is an even more twisted being from the Abyss who commands the Abyss Mages). He became an adventurer, but refused to become a member of the Guild. He always goes to Angel's Share (Diluk's bar) to drink alcohol. He meets the twin brother/sister of his former travel companion, who now calls himself the Traveler. When the Traveler wanted to make a contract with him, Dane agreed, but demanded 500 Mora and three questions with answers, but this has nothing to do with right or wrong. After this, Dane is now hired by the Wanderer, but only takes orders that are related to the Order of the Abyss. Together with the Traveler, he hunted the Herald of the Abyss in the hope of thwarting the group's hellish plans. In Patch 2.6, when Dainsleif gave chase to the Traveler's twin and the Voidbringer, he lost them from a portal opened by the Voidbringer when he took the wrong direction and ended up in Stormterror Lair all alone. He hid the Eye of the First Tiller in a safe location so that the Order of the Abyss would never be able to find it, thus foiling Operation Loom of Doom to transform Ozial, Lord of the Vortex, into a mechanized god of mass destruction. Always on the trail of the Abyssal Herald, Dain reunited with the Traveler and Paimon in the Abyss to stop the Abyss' plan known as the "rebirth of Haenri'a", and also killed both the Abyssal Herald (whom Dain had always hunted for him) and the Abyss Lector: Furious Lightning. With the death of the Herald of the Abyss, the infernal plans of the Order of the Abyss were thwarted, although one of the Knights of the Black Serpent (Halfdan (who was a knight of the Royal Guard of Haenri'a)) sacrificed his own life to destroy the device of the Order of the Abyss that lifted the curse by force. Dane will take a few days of rest due to his exhaustion from the device that was used by the Void Lector, but will return to help the Traveler defeat the Order of the Void. After he has fully recovered from the exhaustion caused by the Order of the Abyss's establishment in the Chasm, Dainsleif reunites with the Sumeru Traveler and meets Kaeya Alberich (a descendant of the Order of the Abyss leader Chlothar Alberich). He, Traveler, and Paimon explore an old house (originally owned by Clothar) until Traveler suddenly passes out. He learned the truth about Operation Loom of Fate when Traveler looked into the memories of their twin brother and Chlothar.
