A former colonel of the U.S. Army, he became the stone-faced leader of M.E.C.H. and developed a lethal obsession with Cybertronian biology and technology. Proclaiming a desire of a new world order, Silas and his supporters systematically usurp Decepticon and Autobot agendas alike in the name of research and experimentation to further Project Chimera, the product of their horrific campaign. He was voiced by Clancy Brown, who also played Hades in the God of War video games, Mr. Krabs in the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise, Undertow in Disney's The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea, Savage Opress in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and General McGuffin in Wander Over Yonder. Advertisement Personality Agent Fowler, do not take your "Silas" lightly. Megatron preached the very same ideology before pludging Cybertron into The Great War that destroyed our world. Optimus Prime's first impression of Silas. Silas was a ruthless and ambitious individual, even before discovering Cybertronians on Earth. While working for US Special Tactics, he desired to control advanced weaponry and subsequently created the unauthorized targeted laser satellite known as Project: Damocles. However, this only resulted in his project being confiscated, and Silas was discharged from the Army. Still determined to fulfill his weapon plans, Silas founded the terrorist organization MECH and made several plans to obtain or steal the most advanced technology in order to establish MECH as a New World Order. Once he discovered Cybertronians on Earth, Silas' ambition turned to obsession, as he became determined to understand and master this newfound technology. With the power of Cybertronian tech, Silas' new plan was to create an army of Transformers under his control to fulfill his ultimate plan of establishing a New World Order. Relentlessly driven and ambitious, Silas was not above resorting to any means necessary to obtain his goals. He dissected and experimented on Cybertronians, made alliances with Decepticons for the opportunities they proposed, and he was not above willing to kill his fellow humankind (even children). This often lead Silas to be very impatient and traitorous, as he would inevitably betray everyone he allied with: Silas double crossed his alliance with Airachnid when he attempted to dissect Arcee behind her back in order to claim his reward sooner than she promised him. He later on betrayed Starscream after Bumblebee rescued his T-Cog from them. Even despite Starscreamโs pleas to continue working together, an impatient Silas immobilized the Decepticon and stole his T-Cog. Silas is shown to be a supremacist, as he views Cybertronians to be superior lifeforms. Subsequently, as a human, Silas envies these aliens and desires to become the closest thing to a Cybertronian. This ideology motivates a large part of his plans, as he states his army of Transformers will create "the perfect meld of man and machine." Even his own MECH Soldiers, who saved his life by fusing him with Breakdown's body, were not above his nature. Upon being revived as C.Y.L.A.S, a human-Transformer hybrid, C.Y.L.A.S declared himself "The Perfect meld of man and machine." With his new granted "superiority", C.Y.L.A.S deemed his human allies unworthy to be affiliated with him and unhesitatingly slaughtered his subordinates. He then planned to ally with like-minded and physically similar individuals by attempting to join The Decepticons. Ironically, C.Y.L.A.S. did not get the open-arms welcome he expected. The Decepticons were disgusted by Silas' new body and his crimes against Breakdown. Megatron called C.Y.L.A.S an "abomination" and condemned him for being part human. Advertisement Biography History Former Colonel Leland Bishop was a member of Special Tactics within the US Military, and held various ambitious weapon ideas including Project: Damocles, a space operated satellite. However, the project was discarded due to its extreme methodology, and Bishop was discharged as a result. Still bent on his weapons ideas, Bishop went rogue and founded the terrorist organization MECH, recruiting other Special Tactics soldiers to assist him and adopted the alias Silas. With a new organization to fund his ambitions, Silas would use MECH's resources and attempt to create a New World Order. First Impressions Silas's first known action to obtain more powerful weapons was his attempt to acquire a highly volatile nuclear powered generator (the D.N.G.S) from Agent Fowler. MECH shot down Fowler's plane and forced him to call the Autobots assist him with escorting the DNGS. Silas and MECH eventually found them and pursued after Agent Fowler and his Autobot escort. Despite not being able to transform, the Autobots were able to hold off MECH in vehicle mode. It wasn't until the Decepticons discovered the Autobots presence and began to attack the Autobots directly. The Vehicons derailed Optimus' trailer and destroyed. Silas then realized the DNGS was relocated onto a nearby train and the escort was a distraction. Before following the train, Silas watched the Vehicons attack the escort. Cornered by an army of Vehicons, the Autobots were forced to transform in order to protect Fowler. Silas looked on in satisfaction as the rumors about living technology were true. Arrogant as ever, Silas radioed to Agent Fowler and taunted him just before Silas orders MECH to pursue after the train. As a MECH helicopter lands on top of the train to secure the DNGS, Jack and Miko ground bridge to defend the DNGS. Silas then notices Optimus Prime following behind him to assist the children. Disappointed, Silas orders MECH to retreat, however just before, Silas shoots out the train tracks to detonate the DNGS. Fortunately for Jack and Miko, Optimus stopped the train just in time. Silas did however take a scan of Optimus Prime's body and fled with new plans for this new living technology. Harvesting Samples Later, MECH interrupted a fight between Bulkhead and Breakdown. Silas ordered they abduct Breakdown and took the Decepticon to hidden MECH base. Silas desired to study Cybertronian biology and order MECH to dissect Breakdown. The resulting dissection caused Breakdown to lose function in his right optic. Eventually, the Autobots came to rescue Breakdown, however Silas slowed them down with several traps staged around the base. Eventually, Bulkhead confronted MECH and rescued his rival from them. Despite Breakdown's escape, Silas was able to obtain enough information on Cybertronian Biology to initiate Project Chimera. Silas then attempted to gain Cybertronian bio tech by following a Decepticon distress signal. However, the distress signal was a trap set by Airachnid. She restrained MECH and confronted Silas face-to-face. Airachnid debated killing him for what he did to Breakdown, instead, she proposed an alliance with MECH to help her kill Arcee and get revenge on Jack for destroying her ship and injuring her. Silas demanded recompense for their efforts, so Airachnid promised to give MECH Arcee's remains for study after she's killed her. MECH analyzed camera footage of Jack and learned his full name, as well as the identity of his mother. MECH first abducted Jack's mother, June Darby, and held her hostage. When Jack arrived home, he discovered a communicator from Silas. Silas blackmailed Jack with the promise that MECH (though omitting Airachnid) would bring no harm to her if Jack and Arcee confronted Silas alone. When Jack and Arcee arrived, Airachnid ambushed and restrained Arcee as Silas revealed his alliance with Airachnid. Arcee attempted to appeal to Silas' humanity, however Silas only justified his inhumane actions. MECH then incapacitated Arcee as Airachnid confronted Jack face-to-face and revealed her plans of retribution. Airachnid wanted to make Jack witness her kill his mother, but she proposed to give Jack a sporting chance. Airachnid promised to let Jack and his mother go free if he could rescue her before midnight. Jack then pleaded with Silas directly to just let them go free. Silas however, still showed indifference and threw Jack to the ground. While Jack searched for his mother and Airachnid followed him, Silas sensed Airachnid's traitorous nature, and thus planned to double-cross her first. While Airachnid was distracted with Jack, Silas ordered the Surgeon to begin dissecting Arcee. When MECH removed Arcee's restraints, Silas ordered the Surgeon to kill her by drilling into her spark chamber. Unbeknownst to Silas, Arcee recovered prematurely and freed herself from MECH. As Arcee battled Airachnid, Agent Fowler showed up with an army of attack helicopters. Confused about Fowler's arrival, Silas then realized Jack had pick-pocketed his radio when the latter pleaded for mercy. Despite losing another chance to study Cybertronian biology, Silas did however get a look at Airachnid scanning Fowler's helicopter to escape, which he was impressed by the transformation process. Much later Silas and MECH struck again by creating a fake energy signal. When Bumblebee investigated the trap, MECH immobilized him and stole his T-Cog to install it into their own robot, but it failed from not having an efficient fuel source. Starscream then arrived and proposed a partnership. Starscream informed MECH about the properties of Energon, and in return he wanted a portion of the Energon deposits MECH located. They almost succeeded with their prototype robot, but Bumblebee showed up to reclaim his T-Cog. MECH was unable to compete with the Autobot, so Silas ordered a retreat and for Starscream to rendezvous after the fight. In their fight, Starscream damaged Bumblebee's T-Cog. When Starscream rendezvoused with Silas empty-handed, Silas betrayed Starscream and stole his T-Cog. MECH briefly appeared in Crossfire, where MECH 1 reported to Silas their discovery of what remains of Breakdown's body, after he was killed by Airachnid in a failed assassination attempt. MECH secretly stole Breakdown's body before it could be returned to the Decepticons. Project Chimera With Starscream's T-Cog and an Energon fuel source, Silas created Nemesis Prime, a mindless robot to control at remote will. He used the robot to frame Optimus Prime for various attacks on army forces, including his attempt to kill Agent Fowler. The Autobots were eventually able to locate MECH's base where the real Optimus Prime and Agent Fowler teamed up to stop both Nemesis and Silas. In the ensuing battle, Fowler distracted Silas long enough for Optimus to defeat Nemesis. In doing so, Silas' body was crushed under Nemesis, leaving MECH's leader in critical condition. As he laid connected to a life-support machine, his soldiers planned to revitalize him with Breakdown's body. Rebirth After his mortal injury, MECH succeeded and infused Silas with Breakdown's body in order to save his life. Redubbing himself as Cybernetic Life Augmented by Symbiosis, or, "Cy.L.A.S" for short, he proceeded to betray and kill his own men via Breakdown's shoulder plasma cannon due to believing himself to be in "the exclusive company of titans." He then proceeded to align with the Decepticons using a little bargaining chip in the form of Project Damocles, a satellite armed with a solar powered laser. But when it failed, Megatron sentenced C.Y.L.A.S. to be dissected by Knock Out for as long as he wants, which the latter commented that his old friend would be "tickled." Reanimation His fate was later revealed as Knock Out was using him to test a Prototype Synthetic Energon formula. Starscream looked on with glee, believing that the "Synth-En" could create the perfect warrior. As the duo experimented on C.Y.L.A.S., they were disappointed to discover the Synthetic Energon was only a temporary solution, and caused C.Y.L.A.S. to be uncontrollably violent. However, under the advice of Starscream, C.Y.L.A.S. was infused with Dark Energon in order to make C.Y.L.A.S. more controllable. However, this experiment badly backfired, as it transformed C.Y.L.A.S. into an Energon-hungry Terrorcon. C.Y.L.A.S. freed himself from his restraints and scared off his tormenters. C.Y.L.A.S. would then wonder aboard the Nemesis in search of Energon, where he drained numerous Vehicons of their Energon and spread the Terrorcon plague. C.Y.L.A.S eventually made his way to a containment room where he sensed Energon. He broke open Airachnid's cryostasis pod and freed her from imprisonment in his attempt to siphon her Energon. Unaware of Silas' condition, Airachnid mistook him for the deceased Breakdown. An intense fight broke about between the two, where C.Y.L.A.S. eventually overpowered and pinned her to a wall, infecting Airachnid with the Terrorcon plague. Before he could drain her Energon, Airachnid slipped out of his grasp and webbed C.Y.L.A.S. to the ground. She then mortally wounded him by stabbing him with one of her appendages, and she began to rip open his chest in an attempt tear out his spark. Airachnid only stopped once she was shocked to discover inside the spark chamber laid a dying Silas instead. She thanked him for her freedom while in his dying words, Silas thanked her for putting him out of his misery, though the latter dismissively scoffed at it.
