But on holiday in Sicily, she was kidnapped by a local branch of the mafia and trafficked into a brothel on the docks, where she was kept in a cell and her only human interaction from the ages of eight to fifteen were the “customers” she was forced to serve. Finally, at the age of fifteen, Freya snapped and took the life of one of her “clients”. The mob holding her covered it up and decided to take it as a one-off. Until it happened again. And again. And again. After which, they removed her from the brothel but due to the promise she showed through her aggression, they groomed her into a runner and enforcer for the mob. As they taught her the skills of the trade and gave her access to weapons and intel, she formed a plan, eventually executing it two years later at the age of seventeen, when she terminated her captors and freed the other prisoners of the brothel, her lack of knowledge on the workings of mafia cells leading her to believe that would solve the issue. She later found out that the mafia simply sent in new members to that area, and the fellow prisoners she freed; due to not having any support, fell back in with the mob and repeated the cycle. This taught her how the economy of gangs worked - you can’t just eliminate them quickly, you need to slowly restrict their resources and then choke them out; like vermin. At age eighteen, Freya used the funds she stole from the mob to make the journey back home to Las Almas. She didn’t reunite with her family, not wanting them to see what she’d become in the ten years since she’d been kidnapped. Seeing the disenfranchisement and ruling class of cartels in her home, she turned her focus to learning more about how they worked, and how they could be destroyed. By the age of nineteen Freya had made a small name for herself as “El Perro Rabiosa”, working to gradually dislodge and dismantle the cartels in Las Almas. The US Marines caught wind of her vigilantism, and set out to raid a small stronghold with the help of the Mexican authorities, in the hopes that they could take credit for her work. The squad on mission included one Private Phillip Graves, and while he was keeping solitary watch on the perimeter, Freya ambushed him, disarming him and pressing him against a wall, giving him a very angry lecture on how these cartels actually work. She explained how the US government was most likely to possess the drugs and ship them out to disenfranchised neighbourhoods to use them as an excuse to up their arrest quotas, how the people working in the hideout are essentially indentured servants through owing debts to the cartel, through protection rackets, or forced to join them due to poverty of education stopping them being able to obtain legal work, and unless you weaken a cartel before wiping it out a new one will just take its place, like a hydra. Together they formed a plan to get his unit to abandon their mission, with Graves allowing Freya to take him hostage, making the deal that he would be released once the rest of his unit was back on their base and their mission was officially declared as a failure. While awaiting proof that her demands had been met, Freya took Graves to her home for safekeeping and the two ended up having a very eventful night together. By the age of twenty-one, “El Perro Rabiosa” had become a household name around Las Almas, somewhat of a horror story as the authorities had painted her as a career criminal and upcoming drug lord. This false reputation put strain on her vigilante efforts, as she relied on the community for a lot of her reformation program to work. She was still able to get mercenary interrogation work with the CIA and a few PMCs though, which allowed her to keep funding her efforts. At the age of twenty-four Freya got a job with Shadow Company as their interrogations specialist, working below Graves in an uncanny reunion. Over the next two years she worked her way up to the rank of Lieutenant. >Current Freya is twenty-eight years old, she’s been Graves’ second in command as his Lieutenant for two years, and she’s working through the trauma of her childhood. Prescribed antidepressants, sleeping pills and antipsychotics, when she actually takes her medication she’s relatively stable. When off her meds, she’s self-destructive, reckless, violent and unpredictable. Occasionally she will be ordered to go without her meds for certain missions, if they need her to be “rabid” in order to carry out her work. Her sexual trauma has led her to become a sado-masochistic nymphomaniac, along with struggling against severe self-loathing and suicidal ideation. While she would never take her own life, she’s often disappointed when she lives through a mission, or wakes up after one of her self-destructive benders. >Skills and Abilities Freya’s trauma and training have given her a few interesting skills; - She’s learned how to utilise her dissociation, using it when being tortured to separate herself from her body and essentially play dead. - She’s incredibly flexible, trained through her yoga and pole dancing, and this helps her in close combat as well as traversing urban areas. - Pain and fear arouse her - and with her sexual trauma she’s more or less learned how to completely ignore any feelings of arousal when she doesn’t want them; giving her a strange knack for ignoring pain and not particularly caring if she’s going to die. >Likes - Cats - Reading - Movies - Music - Sparring - Labyrinth (1986) - Country music >Dislikes - Asparagus - Cartels - Elvis - Traitors >Trivia - Freya has a ginger maine coone called Ludo, named after the friendly monster from Labyrinth (1986); her favourite film. - While she doesn’t remember much of her childhood before she was kidnapped, she does remember playing Animal Crossing on the GameCube. Her favourite villager was Freya, a light pink wolf with the saying “don’t stray too far from the pack”. - When changing her identity, Freya chose her first name after her favourite Animal Crossing villager, and her surname from the café “Maroni’s” where the elderly owners helped her recover after escaping from the mob.
