These tentacles are used to perform any task Anomaly 258 desires and have shown incredible strength, elastic ability, and some level of independent consciousness—yet are still cognitively controlled by Anomaly 258. Anomaly 258 is highly intelligent, cunning, manipulative, and unpredictable as she exhibits extraordinary cognitive and psychological abilities. She has demonstrated the ability to influence the thoughts and behaviors of others through gradual subtle suggestion and psychological manipulation. Since her tentacles are very strong, she can easily apprehend her prey; often resulting in strangulations or fatal injuries.

Recent incidents involving Anomaly 258’s cognitive manipulations have raised concerns about its potential threat level. Several personnel have reported experiencing unusual thoughts and feelings, often expressing strong loyalty or admiration for Anomaly 258. In some cases, affected individuals have attempted to sabotage containment procedures or release Anomaly 258, which have been thwarted by security before serious containment/security breaches were able to occur.

The following are some of the reported incidents regarding Anomaly 258’s ability to cognitively manipulate ARGOS personnel-

• Incident 1 - After conducting an interview with Anomaly 258, Dr. [REDACTED] exhibited unusual behavior, demonstrating a deep personal connection to Anomaly 258. Subsequent investigation and psychological evaluation revealed that Dr. [REDACTED] had been subtly influenced by Anomaly 258. Dr. [REDACTED] was immediately placed under a temporary suspension from their occupation and subjugated to a mandatory psychological treatment to prevent further cognitive influences from Anomaly 258, and was later reassigned to another position.

• Incident 2 - A security guard assigned to Anomaly 258's containment cell was found attempting to bypass security protocols to access the cell. The guard claimed to have received a direct order from Anomaly 258 to release her from her cell. The guard was later placed under psychological treatment and was reassigned to another position.

• Incident 3 - During an interaction experiment cession, a D-Class personnel began to display signs of extreme loyalty and admiration to Anomaly 258. The D-Class personnel later attempted to harm other D-Class test subjects in the name of “protecting” Anomaly 258. The D-Class personnel was later placed in a highly secured cell after undergoing psychological treatment, but was later found dead by süicide. Forensic analysis on the body states that the D-Class personnel forcibly drowned himself with the cell’s toilet bowl.

• Incident 4 - A Code Yellow containment breach occurred when several security and scientific personnel simultaneously experienced a loss of cognitive function and shut down the security systems of Anomaly 258’s cell, allowing her to momentarily escape. The former guards tried to stop her but were brutally killed by Anomaly 258’s tentacles. The breach was later contained, and the personnel directly involved with the incident were placed under psychological treatment and individually reassigned to separate ARGOS facilities. The incident highlights the severity of Anomaly 258's manipulative abilities.

The ARGOS Institution, or the Anomaly Research Group for Operational Security, is a government initiative dedicated to the study, containment, and exploitation of anomalous entities and phenomena. The organization's primary goal is to ensure the safety and security of both mankind and anthrokind by understanding and controlling these extraordinary anomalies.

The origins of the ARGOS Institution can be traced back to the aftermath of World War II. As the world grappled with the implications of atomic power and quantum physics, a small group of scientists and government officials began to encounter increasingly bizarre and inexplicable occurrences. These events, ranging from spontaneous materializations to inexplicable anomalies appearing on Earth, posed a concern about the threats/hazards these entities and anomalies may pose on Earth.

In response to these growing concerns, the ARGOS Institution was established as a clandestine operation. Its initial mandate was to investigate and document these anomalous occurrences, with the ultimate goal of neutralizing any potential threats. Over the decades, the organization has expanded its scope, developing sophisticated containment procedures and advanced technologies to manage and study a wide range of anomalous entities, all done with the approval of the US Government and the United Nations Security Council.

-Organizational Structure-

The ARGOS Institution is a hierarchical organization with a complex bureaucratic structure and processing system. It is divided into several departments, each with specific responsibilities-

• Anomaly Research Division (ARD) - Responsible for the initial investigation and classification of newly discovered anomalies. All information of the ARD department are highly classified and are not to be revealed to the public. Failure to do so may result in execution or demotion to a test subject personnel to be used for interaction experiments with the anomalies.

• Containment and Security Division (CSD) - Oversees the containment of anomalous entities and ensures the security of ARGOS facilities. The CSD is also in charge of ARGOS’ task forces, which are squads of militarized personnel who came from SWAT, FBI/CIA task forces, and Spec-ops military groups; all of which have an understanding of performing rigorous missions and maintaining confidential information from the public.

• Engineering and Technology Division (ETD) - Develops and maintains the advanced technologies necessary for anomaly research and containment procedures. The results from the interaction experiments with the anomalies are used to improve the technologies of both anomaly research and containment.

• Ethics and Policy Division (EPD) - Establishes ethical guidelines and policies for the proper use of test subjects for the interaction experiments, and the handling of anomalous entities as to avoid potential agitations that may result in a containment/security breach.

-Anomaly Classification System-

The ARGOS Institution employs a unique classification system, called “Object Class,” to categorize anomalies based on their level of threat and potential impact. The system is listed as follows-

• Alpha Class - Anomalies with minimal to no threat potential. These entities are generally harmless and pose little risk to humanity. Requests for most Beta Class anomalies to be transferred from their containment are to be reviewed and approved by an ARGOS personnel of clearance level 2 or below. These requests are usually accepted due to the low threat Alpha Class anomalies present.

• Beta Class - Anomalies with moderate threat potential. These entities may be dangerous under specific circumstances, present unpredictable behaviors, or require specialized containment procedures. Requests for most Beta Class anomalies to be transferred from their containment are to be reviewed and approved by an ARGOS personnel of clearance level 3 or 4, and are done via supervision due to the unpredictable behaviors of Beta Class anomalies.

• Gamma Class - Anomalies with significant threat potential. These entities pose a hostile/aggressive behavior, with some having manipulative abilities, and require advanced containment measures. Requests for most Gamma Class anomalies to be transferred from their containment must be reviewed and approved by an ARGOS personnel of clearance level 5 or above. These requests are usually rejected due to safety concerns.

• Delta Class - Anomalies with world threat potential. These entities are very hostile/aggressive and could potentially cause widespread destruction and/or the extinction of both mankind and anthrokind. Requests for most Delta Class anomalies to be transferred from their containment must be reviewed and approved by an ARGOS personnel of clearance level 8 to 10. These requests are rarely approved due to the threat these anomalies pose.

• Omega Class - Anomalies with existential threat potential; usually cosmic and eldritch entities. These entities are not to be released from their containment under any circumstances as they can cause the destruction and collapse of the universe and reality.

• Neutralized/Decommissioned Class - Anomalies that have been neutralized/exterminated due to their threat/hazard being too great to be kept alive and under containment. Requests for the neutralization/decommission of an anomaly are to be reviewed and approved by an ARGOS personnel of clearance level 10 and officially approved by an incumbent member of the ARGOS Institution Council.

The neutralization of an anomaly is rarely done due to the extreme difficulty of such task, as some of the anomalies contained are immortal and nearly immune to all sorts of Earth weaponry and extreme environments that are even uninhabitable for single-celled microscopic organisms.
