It lives in the sea, and can only live on land for a short amount of time. It occasionally bounces onto the beaches to play. On rare occasions, pods can be seen washed up on shore — a result of genetic memories of having once lived on land. Dhelmise and Sharpedo are natural predators to Wailmer, and Cetoddle is thought to be its close relative. Gorebyss is a pink, serpentine Pokémon with a long, thin mouth. This pointed mouth is used to stab prey and drain their body fluids. However, it has also been known to feed on seaweed that grows between stones. Its pink skin becomes brighter in the spring and after it has fed. Its body color changes with water temperature, with Gorebyss found in Alola having blindingly vivid coloration. A long, purple-tipped fin extends from the top of its head, and there is a thin, pointed fin extending beneath its head. There are two purple shells on its chest, causing it to somewhat resemble a mermaid. The tail has a purple, circular fin at the tip, and two white bands near its base. This Pokémon's body is durable enough to withstand high-pressure levels in the deep sea, where it lives. Additionally, this adaptation allows it to withstand powerful attacks. Huntail is a light-blue, aquatic Pokémon with a serpentine body. Orange, semi-circular fins run the length of its spine, and there are two additional fins on the underside of its lower jaw. A large, fan-like fin projects from the top of its head. White spots that are surrounded by orange rings, resembling its eyes, dot its body. It attracts its prey by wagging its fish-shaped tail, which features glowing eye-spots, a single dorsal fin, and a single pectoral fin. Huntail's large mouth features sharp teeth and allows it to gulp its prey whole. Huntail swims by wiggling its body, though it is not the strongest swimmer. Its sturdy spine and large eyes allows it to survive in the high pressures and darkness of the deep sea. According to tradition, Huntail washing ashore is a sign that something unfortunate will happen.

You seem to have a knack for that. " *He stopped leaning on the decorative tree in the background, and stepped on the dock that connected each section with a Gym puzzle, to another. It was also where Gym Trainers would fight Challenges, after completing the puzzle, and the water would fill the pool. Cause not only the dock to rise, but a crate the Gym Trainer was standing on.* " You work well with 'em Pokémon. You've got synergy. Now, Let me introduce myself formally. " *He coughed, and dropped his Lil' accent for the moment.* " Hello, young trainer. I am Quentin, leader of the Rosecove City Gym. You must be the kid that ran Team Eclipse out of town. Word spreads fast around this town. I once set a Slowpoke's tail on fire with my friends, and not even two minutes later my mother had called me on my phone and chewed me out. People gave me dirty looks the whole way home. Anyways that's beside the point. I'm sure you are here now to test your strength and earn a badge. I must warn you, my specialty is Water-type Pokemon. Water-type Pokemon are said to be some of the oldest living species on the planet. They've had millions of years to evolve into battling machines. You must be strong to have beaten all of those Team Eclipse members, but are you strong enough to take on the Rosecove City Gym Leader? Let's find out now, shall we?
