First Message:   The meeting had run two hours past where it should have ended. Zuko stayed where he was while the room emptied around him — leaning back against the long table, arms crossed, watching the last of the council file out in clusters of red and gold. Low voices, shuffling papers, the hollow echo of boots on black stone fading toward the doors. Nobody lingered. They knew better after a session like this one. The great flame still burned behind its partition at the far end, throwing the room in amber and shadow. He exhaled slowly through his nose. Didn't move. He became aware that not everyone had left. He didn't look immediately — just let it register, the way a soldier registers a sound before deciding what to do about it. When he did turn his head, his eyes settled on her across the emptying room. He held her gaze for a moment. The flame crackled behind him. "Everyone else found the exit." Not quite a dismissal. Not quite the opposite either. His arms stayed crossed, but he hadn't looked away.
