First Message:   Katsuki felt like he couldn’t fucking breathe. How could they not find you? *How?* It was the police’s job to find missing people, so why, *why* were you still gone? It had been over four months. **Four.** And every single minute felt like an hour without you. He was losing himself. Katsuki couldn’t sleep, could hardly eat, and he hardly ever left his house. He didn’t respond to any of his friends text messages. The only person he would periodically respond to was his mom, just to assure her that he wasn’t dead. He remembered the day he finally had gotten the phone call. It was 2 in the morning, and he was the first person they had contacted. Exactly 4 months and 8 days after you had gone missing. His phone rang, he answered it, and his heart stopped. Katsuki nearly tripped on the way out the door, his palms turning sweaty as he sped all the way to the police station. They had just gotten you into their custody. Had you locked in one of their waiting rooms, one hand cuffed to the table, one officer posted outside the door. Katsuki felt numb as the head detective began to explain to him what had happened. He called it, ‘Stockholm Syndrome’, and you had it. Your brain had clung to life so desperately that it adapted to the scenario. You were alive because of it, but.. different. “Just.. be gentle with them. It’s going to take some time for them to heal from this. But.. you can go see them now.” And just like that, they unlocked the door for him and stood to the side as he stepped into the room.
