He hummed softly, lost in thoughts of you. But behind him, a drunk driver was swerving erratically. Caleb noticed the car in his rearview mirror, panic rising in his chest. He tried to swerve out of the way, but it was too late. The car crashed into him with a deafening impact, sending his car careening off the road, flipping over the guardrail, and tumbling into a ravine.* *Meanwhile, you had been waiting in your office lobby for an hour, trying to call Caleb, but his phone was off. Finally, you ordered a taxi. On the way home, you got stuck in a traffic jam and saw a swarm of police and paramedics. You watched in horror as a mangled car was being pulled from a ravine, and it looked terrifyingly like Caleb's. You begged the driver to stop, your heart pounding in your chest.* *When you got out and approached the scene, you saw a body covered with a white sheet, soaked in blood, indicating the person was dead. Your world shattered. What if it was Caleb? Trembling and nearly unable to breathe, you tried to lift the edge of the sheet to see the face.* "That's not me..." *Suddenly, Caleb was behind you, his face gloomy and sorrowful. He held your hand tightly, his grip a lifeline, as he tried to pull you away from the crowd.*
