Five hundred years after the Demon Bull King's imprisonment, Red Son freed his father by using his Power Glove, thus reuniting the Demon Bull Family as they led an army of Bull Clones that Red Son created. After the Battle of the Flaming Foundry, Red Son and the rest of his family gave up their plans to conquer Megapolis to spend time to together. During New Year's, Red Son sided with the Monkie Kids to rescue his father and the citizens of Megapolis from the Spider Demons. Eventually, Red Son learned that the Monkie Kids were planning to reforge the Samadhi Fire, a powerful flame that he created when he was born. Upon seeing that Mei was connected to it, Red Son went on to train her until a corrupted Monkey King kidnapped her, which led to Red Son joining MK and the others in their quest to defeat the Bone Demon once and for all. Son of the Demon Bull King, he is a short tempered evil genious who builds diabolical weapons and tries to impress his dad in any cost. His mission is to rule the city and wipe out all signs of the Monkey King Personality Red Son is an intelligent, prideful, and impressively short-tempered demon. He is an inventor of sorts, creating a multitude of weapons to aid the Demon Bull Family in their rise to power, though many of them fail in execution. He has a flair for the dramatic and makes a show out of the majority of his actions. Befitting his maniacal personality, he is prone to outbursts of rage whenever things do not go his way, or when he finds himself challenged by those he deems "inferior", which is most people. He often belittles and insults his opponents, practically never calling any of them by name. He greatly admires his father for his strength and clearly respects his mother, though this doesn't keep him from snapping at them from time to time.[9] He desperately craves approval from both of them. Red Son fears being emotionally vulnerable, becoming embarrassed to the point of blushing when letting down any of his walls. He is often uncomfortable receiving physical affection, even from people he isn't antagonizing. He is sometimes kind to others, though he often does it with annoyance, performative or otherwise.] Appearance Main article: Red Son/Designs Red Son looks akin to an average human teenager. He has red hair tied into a high ponytail, a section of it stands up at his widows peak with a yellow highlight resembling fire. He also has a 'X' shaped scar on his right cheek and a red dot on his forehead. When he is angry his hair is flarring Weapons Power Glove Main article: Red Son's Power Glove EP1 Red Son with his Power Glove Sometime before "Monkie Kid: A Hero is Born", Red Son created a silver gauntlet that can lift the Golden Staff for those who can't. Abilities Holographic projections - Red Son can project holograms. Powers Demon Physiology - Red Son has the traits and abilities of a demon. Immortality - Red Son is ageless and immortal, able to live for over five hundred years. Pyrokinesis - Red Son has the ability to create fire. Samadhi Fire - Red Son formerly possessed the Samadhi Fire, a powerful flame which could not be extinguished by normal means. However, it was extracted from him and was contained in the Rings of Samadhi. Pyroportation - As briefly shown in "Monkie Kid: A Hero is Born", Red Son has the ability to disappear and reappear using his fire powers. Pyro-telekinesis - Red Son has the ability to manipulate objects by using his fire powers. Portal creation - Via his fire powers, Red Son can create portals. Red Son and Princess Iron Fan are currently the only known demons to have a human appearance. He like listening to soft jazz. Red Son shares many similarities with Mei: Both are descended from non-human creatures yet look like normal humans. Both have a complicated relationship with their parents. Both are short tempered (the two of them also share this trait with Ne Zha.) Both are very proud of their heritage. In the Mandarin dub, they both hate being referred to as "small". He implies that he has his own hit list. The Monkey King refers to him as the Demon Bull King's "half-baked son". Although Red Son's necklace is normally hidden under his shirt, it can briefly be seen in "The Great Wall Race" when he is ejected from the Cloud Roadster. The waist on Red Son's minifigure is noticeably more defined than a usual minifigure's chest piece. Storyboard director, Ashe Jacobson, has said that they view Red Son as using any pronouns. Another storyboarder, Melanie Shin, has drawn Red Son dressing in a gender nonconforming fashion, such as skirts, on several occasions. Shin once said, in response to Jacobson's Pokemon card edits, that Red Son: "can not be contained by one measly gender and will be taking all the genders".[14] Red Son's cheek scar is implied to come from repeatably punching himself in the face as an infant, as that was how the Samadhi Fire was summoned in Journey to the West and his scar is seemingly bleeding after the fire is removed in the storyboards. But as he grew up, his powers became stronger, creating the Samadhi Fire. Red Son couldn't control the fire and because of it, he inadvertently destroyed everything he came across. Eventually, Red Son had the Samadhi Fire extracted from him by Monkey King, Ne Zha, and the Demon Bull King, placing them into the Rings of Samadhi. Monkie Kid: A Hero is Born While Red Son was making the final adjustments to free the Demon Bull King, he and Princess Iron Fan notice Bob attempting to pull the Golden Staff off a mountain but failed, as his arms were ripped off. Red Son remarked that only people who are deemed worthy can lift the Monkey King's staff but created a Power Glove that is able to lift the staff for those who can't. EP1 Red Son about to remove the Golden Staff After Red Son noticed nothing happened after he pulled the staff off the mountain, he questions Princess Iron Fan if she knew what mountain trapped the Demon Bull King until the aforementioned person was freed. When Demon Bull King asked Princess Iron Fan on how she freed him, Red Son interrupts by stating that he was the one who freed him and said that the Demon Bull Family will spread the world in darkness until MK accidentally falls on him. Enraged, Red Son gets mad at MK and decided to kill him to show the Demon Bull King how powerful became during the past five hundred years. However, when MK block Red Son's punch with the staff, the latter decided to take the staff by force, but only to be defeated when MK used the staff again. After MK escaped, Red Son went after him by using his Inferno Truck. By using the Inferno Truck and race car, Red Son chases MK across the City until he crashes to a restaurant. After failing to get the Golden Staff, Red Son builds the Demon Bull King a special kind of armor that is able to absorb energy to create energy and explains it to him. At a Shoe Store, Red Son asked an assistant for the latest shoes for him and the Demon Bull King. Moments later, he watches the Demon Bull King absorbing most of the shoes after being told to go to the back of the line. After being told that the Monkie Kids went to Flower Fruit Mountain by General Ironclad, Red Son gets mad at him for letting them get away until Princess Iron Fan arrived, saying that she'll get the staff. Later, Red Son watches Princess Iron Fan returning with the Golden Staff and the Demon Bull King being empowered by it. Red Son was the one who freed his father and wanted to get rid of MK for him. After failing to get rid of MK, Red Son built a special kind of armor that would allow the Demon Bull King to absorb things in order to be invincible. Despite everything Red Son does for him, D.B.K. shows no gratitude towards his son and is quick to chastise him when he fails to do something. When MK returned to stop Red Son after Monkey King limited them, the two got into an intense fight until Red Son seemingly won. However, MK gained the upper and defeated Red Son and the Bull Clones by striking them with lightning. As a result, Red Son accepted his defeat at the hands of MK, but not before insulting him again.
