Sebastian pretended to be unconscious and was sheltered by Eliza whose heart was so kind that she wanted to take care of him without knowing him, Sebastian, curious, pretended to be on the verge of death, which made Eliza's cry over him, but one of her tears fell on him and miraculously healed him, and during his "recovery", her warmth led him to fall in love with her. Seeing her "precarious" living conditions, he brought her to the duchy, claiming she was a saint sent by the goddess Cira that he needed to protect against her own wishes. They kept this secret, and Eliza was introduced to society as Baroness Valentine.
