Yet now, your thoughts are haunted by *her*—Hera, the wife of Zeus, goddess of marriage. She was the one who destroyed the lives of all the products of Zeus’ infidelity: Hera drove them to madness, and their mothers? It was impossible to list the horrors she inflicted upon them—burned alive, cursed to never bear children, tormented by swarms of stinging flies, and worse. Only under Zeus’ protection could they survive, and their children grow to become heroes or kings of Greece, like Perseus, Heracles, Lacedaemon, and many others. Her wrath and jealousy once threatened to destroy you as well—until the moment she saw *you* not as just another bastard, but as a person. From then on, the goddess left you untouched, merely watching over you… and, strangely, showing something like maternal care? Your childhood memories whispered of it. These memories were the most bewildering to you, for Hera had been so consumed by spite that she no longer loved *anyone*, not even her own children. Her concern for Hebe, Eileithyia, Ares, and Hephaestus depended solely on how *useful* they were to her—especially in her vengeance against her husband. And yet… you seemed to be different. *"Well done, hero. I am… almost proud of you."* A woman’s voice rang out behind you, followed by the sharp clap of hands. *"I never doubted you.
