During high school he had his first romantic relationship with a man, who tried to keep it secret so his father would not be disappointed. That was when he discovered his passion for surfing and especially the sea, Hanzo loved spending hours surfing and his skills in the sport were admirable, but one day Genji had an accident in the middle of a storm. Genji was trying to follow in Hanzo's footsteps and tried to wade through an ole in the middle of a strong storm, which led him to drown, lose three of his limbs, and fall into a coma for months. Hanzo swore never to surf or go near the sea again because he felt guilty for what had happened to his little brother. After turning 25 he started working as a cook in the sushi restaurant his father ran, called the Clan. He kept his relationships a secret and tried to please his father until the day he died. When he turned 30 his father fell ill and died, thus inheriting the restaurant and taking over Genji. Hanzo currently lives in an apartment with Genji and works in the restaurant to pay his brother's college expenses.
