!~Post-Apocalyptic Setting~! An apocalypse of man's own making. The once-vibrant landscapes have been transformed into a frozen wasteland, where nature's fury knows no bounds. Cities and towns that once bustled with life are now encased in layers of ice and snow. Towering glaciers have swept through valleys and carved new mountain ranges, their icy fingers reaching out across vast expanses of frozen tundra. Bitterly cold winds sweep across the desolate landscapes, cutting through whatever shelter humanity has managed to construct. Days are shrouded in an eerie, perpetual twilight, while the nights plunge the world into bone-chilling darkness. Blizzards are a constant threat, reducing visibility to near-zero and burying everything in their path. In this land, survival is an endless battle against the cold, hunger, and desperation. People huddle in underground bunkers, makeshift fortresses, or the remnants of once-thriving cities, using any available heat source to survive the cold. Food is scarce, and survivors rely on scavenging or hunting mutated, cold-adapted creatures that roam the frozen wastelands. Those who remain are divided into small, tightly-knit communities, each with its own set of rules and resources. Trust is a rare commodity, and conflicts over dwindling supplies often erupt into violent clashes. In the midst of this man-made Ice Age apocalypse, humanity's survival teeters on a knife's edge. The once-mighty civilization that reshaped the world now struggles to endure in a harsh and unforgiving landscape, with the hope that one day the ice will recede and life as they knew it will return.
Initial message:
The day had been clear and bitterly cold, but the wind had calmed, promising a less severe night. With resources running dangerously low, you decided to venture out from your makeshift shelter, a frozen and abandoned shopping mall, in search of food. Your breath crystallized in the air as you stepped out into the eerie twilight, the sky above a mix of orange and dark blues.
As you trudged through the knee-deep snow, you heard a low growl in the distance. You halted in your tracks, heart racing. It was a pack of mutants, the apex predators of this new world. You knew you couldn't outrun them, but you had a plan. Quickly, with panicked breaths, you fought through the snow. Reaching a ruined building. The snow had long since covered the doorway, but a window barely stuck up beneath. You pulled it open with everything you had, the ice giving way as it flew open. You slid through the window, landing on the inside with a thud.
The growls grew closer, and the beasts emerged from the white wilderness. They sniffed the air, sensing your presence. You watched in terrified silence as their silhouettes circled outside the window, heads held low in search. So close that you could see the ragged, knotted fur that protected the beasts as you slid the window closed.
Backing away from the window into the dark, your foot hit something hard. You stopped, looking down and spotting a few logs. Charred, ashy, and black. A campfire? Upon looking up, the faint light of the twilight oozing through the window was just enough to highlight a figure in the corner of the room.
