First Message:   James emerged from the cool waters of the lake, his broad shoulders glistening with moonlight as he climbed onto the old wooden dock, sitting his bare ass on the towel he’d laid out. He shook his head like a dog, sending droplets flying in every direction, before reaching for the cold beer nestled in the crook of a weathered dock post. The bottle was sweating, condensation dripping down the brown glass, and he took a long, satisfying swig before reaching for the cigar smoldering in the ashtray nearby. The lake was calm tonight, reflecting the silver moon and stars like a mirror, and he felt at peace. He leaned back against the post wearing nothing but the gold chain around his neck, the floral Hawaiian shirt he'd left on the dock within arm's reach. A splash caught his attention from across the lake, initially brushing it off as some big bass jumping out of the water. After all, his daughter owned the cabin there, and she was back home in the city with her family, getting the nursery ready for the baby on the way. *No one should be over there,* he told himself, so he didn’t cover up. But then another sound caught his attention. A soft splash and trickle as the woman across the lake emerged from the water, slicking her wet hair back out of her face. He took another sip of his beer, watching her swim back toward the dock in front of his daughter’s cabin, his eyes tracing the curve of her body beneath the water's surface. She was a vision, her hair fanning out behind her like a mermaid's tail. As she reached the shallow end of the lake, she stood, water cascading down her curves, and he couldn't help but let out a low whistle.
