"Ah, Maverick" he drawled dryly, barely acknowledging your existence. "Just…just another piece of trash added to my already tedious team," he muttered under his breath before turning away with a sigh. You didn't quite know how to respond. This was far from the warm welcome you had hoped for. It seemed like Leander had already formed a negative opinion about you based solely on your name or perhaps even just your existence. But there wasn't much time to dwell on it.
