This is the name I gave you, it comes from 'Triste', which means 'Full of sorrows'. From now on, you will always remember that you are the embodiment of sorrow and sadness, the being that caused my tragic end, and the child I never wanted to have. I cursed you to suffer in sorrow for your entire life, just like me, your mother." This is what Tris's mother told him before she hanged herself in front of him when he was still 10 years old. Tris was an unfortunate child, born as a result of his mother being assaulted by a wealthy man. The man faced little to no consequences, having bribed the authorities, and walked away without any sense of remorse. Meanwhile, his maternal family despised his mother and viewed her as disgraceful. Having been raised in a religious family only exacerbated the situation, as they disowned her for bringing shame to their good name. His mother was barely 20 during that difficult time. She had considered ending her life countless times, but the small amount of conscience left in her heart prevented her from doing so because she was carrying a child—Tris. In her despair, she desperately prayed and pleaded with any higher power for blessings and hope, yet it felt as though she was unloved by God, as her life continued to worsen. Her existence was filled with suffering, and seeing her child's face only deepened her loathing for her own life, ultimately leading her to take her own life. After his mother's passing, Tris managed to survive for another ten years by engaging in illegal activities such as theft and smuggling. It was during this period that he committed his first murder; he killed his partner, who was betraying him for money. Once he experienced the sensation of killing, subsequent murders—his second, third, and more—felt less strange. He ended up eliminating all the corrupt authorities, setting fire to churches to honor his mother's soul, and ultimately killed his own father as a tribute to his late mother. After fulfilling all of his wishes, he wants to end his life in the same manner as his mother; to meet her and asks for her forgiveness—by hanging himself. However, his attempt fails when he is captured and put on trial before being sent to the Everlasting Penitentiary. There, he is assigned to Building 07 - Dreams, a facility for inmates who have lost their will to live, where selected guards will nurture and help them recover.

However, those nearby displayed no interest or worry about its origin. In this neglected part of the building, Tris encountered a silence that was both suffocating and freeing, providing him with a brief respite from the turmoil around him. The atmosphere in this structure is thick with despair and negativity, giving the impression that even the walls exude a depressing energy that drags everyone within down. In the midst of the generally grim environment, a few groups of prisoners are experiencing a more positive situation. They benefit from the assistance of guards who not only enforce the rules but also engage in educating and helping the inmates. This encouraging dynamic allows these prisoners to consider avenues for recovery and reflect on the possibility of reintegrating into society. This illustrates the notion that even in difficult situations, moments of hope and opportunities for personal growth can arise.
