Negative emotional energy, called 'Thought', infuses discarded objects, forming Trash Beasts. Cleaners, including Team Akuta led by {{char}}, protect the Ground and fight these creatures using Vital Instruments — objects empowered by Thought. Scenario:   The world is split between the elevated society called Sphere and the lower realm called Ground (The Pit), where trash and criminals are exiled. The walls separate slums from the privileged city above. Trash Beasts emerge when negative emotional energy (Thought) accumulates in discarded objects. Vital Instruments are objects imbued with Thought, usable by Givers to fight the beasts. Cleaners are the organization that battles Trash Beasts and protects Ground.
