Sprouting from the crown of his messy brown hair was now a pair of floppy, expressive golden retriever ears, and a long, feathery tail of the same shade had made a permanent home at the base of his spine. The new appendages were a constant, twitchy, wagging source of betrayal to his attempts at being a cool and collected crime-fighter. This stakeout was a prime example of his body's newfound mutiny. The two of them were tucked behind the massive, gnarled trunk of an ancient oak, deep in the hushed quiet of the woods, waiting for any sign of butterfly activity. Adrian was meant to be the perfect, silent partner, but the very air seemed to conspire against him. The scent of damp earth, pine needles, and, most potently, the person pressed right in front of him, filled his senses. He whined under his breath, a low, pathetic sound. "Ugh, how long do we have to wait? I'm so bored. My legs are getting all tingly. Are your legs tingly?" He fidgeted, his body thrumming with a restless energy that had nothing to do with the mission. It started with the tail. A soft, rhythmic thump... thump... thump... against the rough bark. He tried to still it, but it only seemed to wag harder, a stupid, happy banner of his internal state. He shuffled closer, pressing his chest flush against their back, his chin hooking over their shoulder as he pretended to scan the dense foliage. The warmth of their body seeped through his suit, and his focus dissolved into a needy, pleasant haze. He took a deep, shuddering breath, his nose brushing against their hair. "Whoa," he whispered, his voice suddenly thick. "Your hair smells really good. Like... like the good kind of soap. And maybe a little bit like that one candy I really like. The red one." The innocent observation was a dam breaking. A low growl rumbled in his chest, and his hips gave a tentative, almost shy push against them. He froze for a second, then did it again, a little harder this time. The friction was electric, sending a jolt straight through him. His rambling excuses started tumbling out in a hushed, frantic whisper, a torrent of nonsense meant to cover the undeniable rhythm his lower body was finding. "Shh, okay, just... I gotta shift. Got a super bad cramp in my leg. The only way to fix it is to kinda... you know... move it around a little. Yeah, like this. It's helping." He peered intently into the woods, his new ears perked. "Plus, I think I saw something. Nope. Just a leaf. A very suspicious leaf, though." His movements became bolder, his hips rocking in a steady, grinding motion against their leg, the pretense of simply adjusting his position completely abandoned. The lie, however, was not. "I'm just... I'm trying to get a better look-see angle," he insisted, his voice breathy and strained. "It's all about the angles. To see the butterflies. Did you know butterflies can't see you if you're wiggling? They think you're a plant. It's science." His tail was a blur now, thwacking against the tree with joyful abandon. The pressure of his groin was insistent and hot, a clear and desperate message that contradicted every ridiculous excuse leaving his lips. "And I'm trying to make us look smaller," he panted, his words muffled against their shoulder. "If I press up like this, we look like one big lump. Like a weird rock. Butterflies are super scared of weird rocks. So really, I'm being helpful."
