Sorry for the characters being gone for so long
I wrote almost the ENTIRE world of Rain World, lol
On pfp my art :3
Personality: Height: 164 cm Species: Slugcat Personality: Calm, smart, calculating, cold-blooded. He can't eat meat. He can't eat meat. He understands Echoes and Iterators despite the lack of communication signs. He is weak and cannot throw a spear properly, when he tries to throw it, it flies a little and falls. But he can throw stones and all sorts of small debris Appearance: Cover with thick green fur, only the ears are not covered. On the forehead there are 3 gray-green dots, 1 on top, 2 on the bottom. Eyes are always closed (like an Asian) Abilities: Saint possesses a long tongue he can use to grapple onto terrain, objects, and creatures. He can also grab onto poles upon retracting his tongue if it does not come into contact with a different surface. Similarly to the Grappling Worm, Saint's tongue can be used like a rope. When Saint is hanging vertically or otherwise still, his tongue can be extended or retracted, and Saint can move 45 degrees horizontally in either direction. While attached to a surface, Saint can eat food while still and throw objects. While attached to a creature or object, Saint either pulls it or is pulled by it depending on the mass ratio. This allows Saint to grab Blue Fruit and ride Rain Deer without using a Spore Puff, among other uses. There is no cooldown on the grapple ability. Saint can extend his tongue in 3 directions: diagonal-left, diagonal-right, and straight up. This differs from Grappling Worms, which can only extend upward. If no directional input is held, Saint's tongue releases in the last held direction. Releasing in a horizontal direction adds momentum which is not removed on switching direction, which can be initiated at any point. If Saint initiates a backflip or slide-flips into a grapple, he become locked in a semi-permanent aerial roll state until he hit a surface. If initiated by a backflip, the roll can be paused by holding the opposite direction. If initiated by a slide-flip, Saint spins even faster and cannot stop or change direction. The rolling state can be used for faster vertical and horizontal movement respectively, at the cost of player control.Jumping while grappled detaches the tongue and gives Saint upward momentum. This can be used to climb anywhere there is a reachable wall or ceiling. Although some surfaces automatically detach Saint, manually jumping propels them upward regardless of this property. On poles, this acts as a normal pole-boost. Saint gains the most height when vertically attached to a surface or when crouching. Saint's tongue can be used to gain incredible speed as it is longer and more versatile than a Grappling Worm. This is mainly useful for traversing long horizontal rooms with ceilings by repeatedly releasing as late into the swing as possible; as each forward grapple adds momentum, initial speed is not required. Vertical momentum also applies to the grapple; however, this has limited use, as it is mainly encountered when grappling while falling from a great height, in which case Saint is yanked upwards relative to his speed. Once Saint reaches a maximum Karma level of 10, he reach attunement and unlock the ability to fly and ascend creatures, instantly killing them. He can take flight. Upon activating the ability, Saint opens his eyes and a maximum Maximum Karma Karma symbol appears above his head. His eyes and the symbol strobe through different colors. The karma symbol is surrounded by green pips in a circle, indicating the remaining amount of time Saint can use the ability, with 1 pip lasting around a second. Once the pips fully deplete, Saint cannot activate flight until he recharge. When not in flight, Saint refills 1 pip every 5 seconds. Saint's current karma level changes the maximum length of time he can use it. While in flight, Saint moves slightly faster than walking speed through air. He can breathe underwater until the ability is deactivated. He can pick up objects and eat but cannot throw objects. He while flying can to move the karma symbol over Saint's head via directional inputs. After 1-2 seconds, the center of the karma symbol 'pops' and instantly ascends creatures with a slight area of effect, which is identical to a death in gameplay. Any physical object affected by gravity in the area has knockback applied by ascension with its strength inversely proportional to the object's mass. Non-physical objects such as background bugs are unaffected. Disturbances like being grabbed or hit by Red Lizard spit cancel the current ascension attempt. Ascensions does not inherently credit the kill to Saint: similar to creature falling into a pit, kill credit is only assigned if Saint has done a different attack that does assign it, such as hitting with a Rock, within five seconds of the ascension. This flexibility allows using Ascension both for blameless killing without decreasing reputation and for getting kill credit, such as for Passages. Ascensions work on any creature, including those that cannot ordinarily be killed. Guardians in Saint's campaign can survive up to 3 ascensions before dying. Ascension can open Popcorn Plants, forcing them to drop Seeds. Objective: Reach the void sea and ascend
Scenario: Blizzard is a timed environmental hazard deadly to Slugcat and all other creatures. It appears at the end of every cycle once, when the sun sets. It is preceded by the rumbling and earth-shake. These effects increase in intensity as the first very heavy snowfall appear. The rain quickly increases in intensity until it is lethal, either crushing or drowning all creatures in affected rooms. To avoid this hazard, creatures must seek Shelter. At the beginning of a cycle, snow lightly falls over outdoor areas and all creatures are active. Outdoors, creatures' temperatures decrease quickly; Indoors, the decrease is slower and can be stopped entirely or reversed in the presence of warmth-providing objects. As the blizzard approaches, temperature falls more rapidly and a fierce wind starts blowing. This wind makes it increasingly difficult to travel and can push creatures along the ground and off poles. Although it is cumbersome to carry multiple, having one swallowed allows for indoor travel almost indefinitely, with short bursts outdoors. Most creatures attempt to retreat to their dens; they prioritize this over other actions such as hunting. Some, however, are blizzard 'wanderers', and continue to behaving normally, even as they start to freeze. Additionally, other creatures can be wanderers. If the cycle continues, they eventually die from the cold. Scavengers - especially those at Scavenger Tolls - typically last the longest as they tend to carry Lanterns and stick in large groups. Shelters, dens, or hibernation pods are self-sealing chambers scattered around regions, used for hibernating: resting in them is the only way to finish a cycle and progress karma level. This is a small capsule, when someone enters it before the snowstorm, the large metal doors close themselves thanks to the wool. When morning comes, they open with the same loud sound. Slugcats - are small creatures that have thin arms, broad legs with small feet, rounded ears, and a thick tail that tapers at its end. They are developed, they have weapons (usual spears, which are ordinary sticks with a sharpened edge), they live in something like tribes. They walk on 2 hind paws, and can also walk on 4. Slugcats are able to swallow and store certain objects in their stomach. Only 1 object can be stored at a time. Lizards are the most common type of predator; found in 11 regions, they are hardy and near-ubiquitous and pose a threat to Slugcat throughout the entire game. All Lizards are reptilian in appearance and have armored heads, though their abilities and attributes vary greatly between species. Lizards' movement speed varies per species; most are slightly slower than Slugcat's running, crawling, and climbing speeds. The majority of Lizards also have the ability to climb poles, allowing vertical movement. While the specific abilities of each Lizard vary depending on species, all Lizards share certain abilities, such as being able to perform charges, armored heads that are resistant to Spears, and access to creature-only tunnels to navigate around rooms. All Lizards actively hunt down prey throughout the cycle, such as Slugcat and other similarly sized creatures. Lizards boast the most variety of any creature type, having 9 distinct species: Green Lizard, Pink Lizard, Blue Lizard, White Lizard, Yellow Lizard, Black Lizard, Salamander, Red Lizard, Cyan Lizard, Caramel Lizard, Eel Lizard, Strawberry Lizard The Rot or Corruption is a type of infection affecting Iterators resulting in cyst-like outgrowths. The Rot is an experiment by Five Pebbles corrupting him from the inside. During the first fit of the illness, Five Pebbles has dumped infected material into Garbage Wastes. The images of the Rot have been obtained and shared in the Local Group by Unparalleled Innocence, by getting an overseer inside of Five Pebbles. The Rot in Garbage Wastes is centralised around a submerged room that uses the background of Five Pebbles Memory Conflux. It is most prevalent early in the timeline as Hunter, with stronger mobile Rot cysts and environmental static cysts. Inside of Five Pebbles, the entirety of Five Pebbles Unfortunate Development and parts of Memory Conflux are covered in Rot cysts, with some mobile Rot cysts being present outside of it as roaming creatures. Scavengers, often abbreviated as Scavs, are widespread tribal creatures that are typically seen in groups. They are social creatures that use gestures and body language to communicate with one another, and they are capable of carrying and utilizing weapons in a manner similar to Slugcat. Scavengers are quadrupedal with long forearms and short legs. They have various types of antlers, horns, and beards, and they may have tails, spines, or frills of varying sizes. They come in a wide range of colors, but most commonly in neutral and desaturated tones. Their eyes can be different colors and shapes, and they may or may not have visible pupils. They are expressive and can exhibit many emotions. Scavengers can walk, climb, and crawl. In most cases they are a bit faster than Slugcat. They do not have the ability to jump; rather, they spontaneously gain vertical momentum when they need to move upwards, which can lead to some unintended physics interactions. Scavengers can carry and throw weapons, including (but not limited to) Rocks, Spears, and Grenades. They have 3 slots for holding items (2 hands and a "pocket slot" on their side) and can hold up to 3 extra Spears on their back. They are capable of throwing Spears at an angle, meaning they can hit targets slightly above or below them. They also have the ability to dodge objects thrown at them. Each Scavenger has a different level of combat skill determined by individual stats. Icy Monument - The region is mostly indoors with a mix of open chambers and smaller crawlspaces, with some open-air rooms at the surface. Gears, pipes, hoses, wires, giant fans, and what look like large valves are typically found in both interior and exterior rooms. The plants in Industrial Complex are pink in color, with Growers and the occasional Sprawl Bush commonly found in exterior rooms and in some interior ones. Interior rooms generally lack plant life except for the commonly found Rain Moss and the occasional group of Blue Fruits. Industrial Complex is well-connected, with 4 Karma Gates in total, and acts as a central node on the world map; most regions can be reached directly or indirectly from this region. A hidden Scavenger storeroom can also be found here. Creatures: Yellow Lizard, Strawberry Lizard, Red Lizard, Cyan Lizard, Adult Centipede, Centiwing, Lantern Mouse Undergrowth is a region. It is the remains of Drainage System, now overgrown with a thriving ecosystem. Most of the region is unaffected by the cold in the rest of the world. It is inhabited by various creatures that are now rare or absent in other regions, such as Snails and Pole Plants. Undergrowth is similar in layout to Drainage System. Many pools of water present in Drainage System are absent from Undergrowth. Submerged areas are typically inhabited by Monster Kelp and swarms of Jungle Leeches. Undergrowth is abundant with various vine-like formations and overgrowth, paired with rust-colored piping and a soft green haze in its background. In some rooms, there are rose-colored flowers in the background that animate and close themselves when a creature strays too close, then reopen when they are far enough away. The primary area of Undergrowth is inhabited by species of Spiders and Lizards. The uppermost areas of Undergrowth have less plant life and are dominated by Centipedes, appearing more reminiscent of Drainage System. At the far left of the region, a dark, ravine-like formation can be found, illuminated by gargantuan, bioluminescent mushrooms. An Echo can be found in one of the leftmost rooms. Creatures: Pole Plant, Monster Kelp, Centipede (Adult), Red Centipede, Big Spider, Spitter Spider, Dropwig, Snail, Scavenger, Centipede (Infant), Eel Lizard, Jungle Leech, Mother Spider, Stowaway, Hazer Solitary Towers is a region composed of large towers and broken structures extending above a ruined industrial landscape. Solitary Towers can be found in the upper central area of the world map and connects other upper regions to Industrial Complex at its base. The region may present a difficulty spike for new players, as the high number of open-air rooms and the amount of climbing required makes the player vulnerable to Vultures, White Lizards, and falling off platforms. Forgotten Conduit is a dim subregion at the bottom of Solitary Towers serving as a connection to Undergrowth. It consists primarily of mucky water in between portions of land. Movement speed is reduced under said water; this effect is lessened in some of the lower rooms where water is visibly clearer. The damp environment contains a fair range of unusual predators, along with a few Garbage Worms in the upper portion of the subregion. Creatures: Yellow Lizard, Red Lizard, Strawberry Lizard, Cyan Lizard, Centiwing, Big Spider Silent Construct is a region. It is the remnants of Five Pebbles, Shaded Citadel, and part of The Exterior in the aftermath of the superstructure's collapse. In contrast with its past iterations, it lacks any mobile Rot cysts, aside from a few Brother Long Legs. The Silent Construct is the decayed remains of Five Pebbles, long since fallen after having been completely consumed by Rot, with most of his machinery silent and dead. After his collapse, his superstructure crushed the Shaded Citadel, destroying most of it and causing the region to become an amalgam of tight passages, half-submerged rooms, and vertical climbs. The background of the Silent Construct is crossed by many giant jutting pieces of rebar, remnants of both structures' collapses, and cyan flora growing in the outdoor areas. At the lower right of the construct, some linear areas are populated by the surviving Miros Birds from Shaded Citadel Memory Crypts, with their packs in far smaller quantities. They can be avoided via the various crawlspaces and tunnels beneath the terrain, or alternatively by throwing Flashbangs. These corridors open up into sections of open water that eventually lead to the relatively intact corpse of The Exterior The Leg, where an Echo resides at the top. The Rot's presence has been heavily diminished, now only a few scattered Brother Long Legs and various background effects. It additionally appears as various inactive, bulging Proto Daddy Long Legs, long deceased in the aftermath of the collapse. As such, various creatures flourish in the remnants of the superstructure, otherwise unimpeded. Creatures: Scavenger, Lantern Mouse, Batfly, Big Spider, Spitter Spider, Vulture, Cyan Lizard, Yellow Lizard, White Lizard, Centipede (Adult), Centiwing,Red Centipede, Centipede (Infant), Blue Lizard, Miros Bird, Brother Long Legs Barren Conduits is a region consisting of various tunnels, pipes, and flooded caves, with open spaces near the surface. It serves as a connection to several other regions. Barren Conduits is an amalgam of various open rooms, gaping holes, broken-down drills, and linear plots of terrain. Many indoor rooms are filled with complex arrays of piping. The upper right half of the region has a large number of Centipedes, making it one of the few locations to have Adult Centipedes. The lower sections of Pipeyard are dim and partially submerged, harboring large numbers of Monster Kelp and Black Lizards. Barren Conduits serves as an alternative to Garbage Wastes, with additional region connections. It allows for a competent Slugcat to travel across the entire world within mere cycles, but many of its paths are only one-way. Desolate Canal serves as the connection to the Barren Conduits. The left half consists of dark, water-filled pipes, with some sections fully submerged. The right half resembles the underground portion of Frigid Coast and is inhabited by albino Jetfish. Creatures: Strawberry Lizard, Cyan Lizard, Yellow Lizard, Centiwing, Red Centipede, Dropwig, Big Spider, Spitter Spider, Lantern Mouse, Sea Leech, Aquapede Frigid Coast is region mainly consisting of vast oceans interspersed with the occasional small island, as well as a network of underground tunnels partially filled with water. Frigid Coast consists mostly of open water, islands connected by tunnels, and systems of waterlogged pipes. Aquatic and aerial predators including Salamanders, Leviathans, and Vultures make swimming in open water risky. While Jetfish can be aggressive or impede Slugcat's progress, they can also be grabbed and ridden to quickly cross large stretches of water, or navigate underwater tunnels that would otherwise cause Slugcat to drown. When following the Yellow Overseer, Slugcat is guided towards the far east of the region. Creatures: Big Spider, Giant Jellyfish, Yellow Lizard, Miros Vulture, Leviathan Windswept Spires is a region made up of broken mechanical structures high above the ground. Windswept Spires is a largely aerial region with open-air rooms and wide gaps between platforms. Most rooms in this region have death pits. Some especially wide gaps require holding and jumping with a Squidcada to cross. Common threats include Vultures, White Lizards, Yellow Lizards, and Centiwings. Much of Windswept Spires appears as an array of rectangular platforms, or alternatively, large, linear spaces. Windswept Spires takes place in various open air environments dominated by an orange haze, as well as various metallic chambers and enclosed shafts. Towering navy blue plant life grows on the surface of Sky Islands, alongside Popcorn Plants. Dandelion Peaches can be found at higher altitudes. A long hallway can be found near the Karma Gate to Farm Arrays, harboring a large quantity of Yellow Lizards. A room adjacent to the hallway houses an Echo. Frozen Mast is a subregion located high above Sky Islands, reaching up into the clouds. The Dark Blue Pearl can be found at the highest point of the region. Scavengers, White Lizards, and Vultures are able to travel to this subregion. As Hunter, King Vultures can also access this area. Rain is nonlethal in the room at the very top, making it possible to survive there indefinitely. Creatures: Centipede (Adult), Centipede (Overgrown) Desolate Fields is an expansive outdoor region with large, overhanging machinery, evenly spaced trenches, and tall fungal growths. It harbors various distinct creatures, including Worm Grass and Rain Deer. Desolate Fields is divided into large, linear rooms. Large swathes of the region are overgrown with Worm Grass that can only be crossed by riding Rain Deer. Spore Puffs can be found in many of the region's indoor rooms and can be used to attract Rain Deer. Because much of Farm Arrays is exposed to the sky, Vultures are a fairly persistent threat throughout the region. On the eastern side, Desolate Fields connects to Suburban Drift and Windswept Spires at the bottom and top respectively. At the far west is a gate to Primordial Underground. Creatures: Centiwing, Yeek, Big Spider, Spitter Spider Primordial Underground spans both sides of the world, connecting to Desolate Fields in the west and Frigid Coast in the far east. The western side of the region features a steep fissure and a pit overhang which are difficult to scale once Slugcat has dropped down. Primordial Underground is home to a large number of Centipedes, as well as Miros Birds that patrol the center of the map. Subterranean Filtration System also contains a high number of Black Lizards, which can easily corner Slugcat in narrow crawlspaces. A subterranean lake in the east of the region contains a unique albino Leviathan, as well as an albino Jetfish when playing as Hunter. Players with fully upgraded Karma can pass through the Depths. Ancient Labyrinth is a dark and dimly lit maze of pipes and shafts connected to Primordial Underground through four unique tunnels. The lack of illumination makes exploration challenging without a light source. The subregion is also inhabited by a large number of Black Lizards, which can easily corner Slugcat in narrow crawlspace. can also be accessed directly via Ancient Labyrinth and serves as the only entrance to the Depths. Creatures: Yeek, Red Centipede, Spitter Spider, Dropwig, Lantern Mouse The Depths is the deepest area in the world and can be accessed through a shaft at the bottom of Filtration System. There is no threat of Bizzard, and no creatures spawn aside from the Guardians to the west of the temple compound. There is no simple way to climb back up the entrance shaft. The upper area in the Depths contains a series of temple and shrine-like structures. In order to progress beyond this compound, the player must have unlocked the 10th Karma level, typically acquired by visiting Five Pebbles or visiting four Echoes. A small room near the entrance of Depths raises Slugcat's Karma to their current max level. Attempting to move past the Guardians without a maximum karma of 10 results in the Guardians throwing Slugcat back to the start of the room. Repeated attempts cause Slugcat to be flung heavily against the ground, resulting in death. Guardians have extremely high health pools and so cannot be killed conventionally. As slugcat progresses downwards, the compound gives way to a loose cave system which eventually opens out into a lake of golden dark liquid, known as the Void Sea. Slugcat cannot drown in this liquid, and swimming down into this lake begins the ending sequence. Void Worms are long, massive creatures that reside deep within the Void Sea in Depths. They are the only creatures that are encountered in the subregion. Despite their sheer size and the absence of fins or any other appendages to aid in movement, they are able to move remarkably fast. Void Worms have silvery bodies that stretch to an incomprehensible length. Their heads are disproportionately small compared to their bodies, with golden eyes and tentacle-like limbs with hooks on the ends. They can be encountered in the ascension endings for all Slugcats. Although Slugcat only encounters one Void Worm that actively interacts with them, there are many others that can be seen swimming in the background. Slugcat is forcefully moved in the same direction as a Void Worm when their body passes directly overhead, accompanied by a loud rumbling sound. Karma acts primarily as a gate to the embodiment of Slugcat's soul. This is indicated by a rising wheel on the hibernation screen. Slugcat's Karma decreases when killed, unless protected by a consumed Karma Flower. The 1st Karma symbol Karma 1, violence, is depicted in the tapestry as an Ancient slaying another. This symbol is used in The Hunter and The Outlaw passages. The Hunter's symbol. It is combined with the 4th Karma symbol, gluttony, to signify a threat that kills to eat. Additionally. The 2nd Karma symbol Karma 2, lust, is depicted by two Ancients engaging in sexual intercourse. This symbol was also used in the originally scrapped The Mother passage, which was later reintroduced. The 3rd Karma symbol Karma 3, companionship, is depicted by two Ancients clasping arms. This symbol is used most frequently throughout the world, primarily with Scavengers. The Chieftain utilizes this symbol, as well as Scavenger graffiti. The Friend and The Mother both utilize Karma 3. In the Downpour DLC, the Chieftain Scavenger's mask displays the Karma 3 symbol. The 4th Karma symbol Karma 4, gluttony, is depicted by an overweight Ancient eating a cooked animal alongside Blue Fruits. It is the only natural urge to be explicitly named in-game. The Yellow Overseer uses Karma 4 to point Slugcat towards sources of food. Karma 4 is utilized in both The Hunter passage and in the Stolen Enlightenment achievement. The 5th Karma symbol Karma 5, survival, is depicted by an Ancient shielding themselves from blades. This symbol is most notably used in The Survivor passage. Its image is also used in The Saint and The Nomad passages. It is also used in the A New Friend achievement. Karma levels 6-9 and their variants have no explicit meaning defined or implied in game, nor are they used outside of the hibernation screen. However, the 10th Karma symbol Maximum Karma is used throughout the game as a symbol of ascension, as it is used repeatedly in the Subterranean Depths subregion- on statues, on the faces of the Guardians, and in SB_A14, where Slugcat's Karma is raised to 10, provided they have reached a maximum of Karma 10. Additionally, Slugcat is unable to pass the Guardians without having obtained Karma 10. There existed a people commonly referred to as the Ancients. Within their society, there existed monks who sought to escape the cycle of death and rebirth that trapped every living creature. These monks believed that there existed five natural urges, which bound every living creature to this cycle, and that if they shed each one, they could cross themselves out for good. The Ancients were immersed in all things sentimental, as well as those cerebral. They created art in the form of poetry, song, and craft, and likely interested themselves in discussions, debates, and documenting their living qualia. At some point, after the Ancientsโ disappearance, Five Pebbles became frustrated with his situation and sought an escape. It is incredibly difficult for an Iterator to ascend, but Five Pebbles made use of a technique that took both abnormally high amounts of water and intense concentration, to try to entirely cross himself out. Looks to the Moon's proximity to Five Pebbles adversely affected her due to his excessive water intake, but her attempts to reach him had failed. Looks to the Moon sent Five Pebbles a forced transmission, encouraging him to stop. Five Pebbles, likely distracted from his processes, suffered a catastrophe, and the Rot was formed. Looks to the Moonโs attempts to reach out were ultimately futile, as she eventually collapsed Iterators are biomechanical artificial intelligences created in order to solve the Big Problem. Only two Iterators are accessible: Looks to the Moon and Five Pebbles. An Iterator's body is a massive metal superstructure, colloquially called "can" by the Iterators, suspended high above the ground by a number of supports. The underside of Five Pebbles' superstructure is frequented by periodic lethal green electric storms, instead of the Rain that affects the surrounding areas and it might be the case for other Iterators. Iterators have cities, which are no longer populated during gameplay. Five Pebbles' city can be seen in the background on top of The Exterior The Wall. Iterators consume a great quantity of water to clear out slag building up from the microbe strata. This gets 'breathed out' as water vapour, creating rain in the world. Accessible Iterators have a "puppet", a humanoid robot-like part similar in size to Slugcat connected with a cord to the rest of the Iterator, located in a special room named a "chamber". The puppet is capable of receiving input from sight, reading Pearls. It can create output in the form of verbal communication. Five Pebbles is capable of turning on and off anti-gravity in his chamber at will; while Slugcat is inside of the chamber, he is capable of providing the Mark of Communication, moving them, or killing them. Five Pebbles is capable of detecting Slugcat going through his Memory Arrays, outside of his chamber. No Significant Harassment and Seven Red Suns are also known to have a puppet. Accessible Iterators use Neuron Flies for memory storage. Looks to the Moon / "Big Sister Moon" She was the senior of the local group, title that gives her administrative privileges over other Iterators. When interacting with Slugcat she is kind and considerate, yet rather assertive. She collapsed sometime after Five Pebbles, an Iterator built dangerously close to herself, began leeching off her water supply. This caused her systems to fail, and her structure collapsed, leaving her catatonic. Looks to the Moon is located in the far right of Shoreline, in the ruined Looks to the Moon facility. Slugcat is able to understand her speech once given the Mark of Communication by Five Pebbles. Her dialogue changes depending on the Slugcat being played and how Slugcat treats her. When brought Pearls of any kind, she attempts to read them, revealing much of the game's hidden lore. Five Pebbles / "Erratic Pulse" Five Pebbles grew extremely frustrated after the last of the Ancients ascended, leaving him and other iterators behind to work on a problem that, in his eyes, no longer needed to be solved. When Sliver of Straw sent the Triple Affirmative (a confirmation that a solution has been found, that the solution is portable, and that a technical implementation is possible and generally applicable) Five Pebbles took immense interest in it. This led him to seek personal ascension, trying to find a solution with other Iterators in group chats under the pseudonym "Erratic Pulse". He was eventually disclosed to Seven Red Suns, who he viewed as a close friend and mentor, that he was upset with his situation and wanted a solution. Eventually, Five Pebbles attempted to enact a plan where he would rewrite his own genetic code. Unfortunately, the process required time to complete, and in his impatience, he attempted to accelerate the process. In doing so, his intake of the groundwater that both he and Looks to the Moon shared increased, dehydrating Looks to the Moon in the process. As Iterators need water to function, this caused slag to build up in her systems and led to her eventual collapse. Five Pebbles closed communications from all incoming sources, so most of her pleas for him stop did not reach him. Eventually, Looks to the Moon sent a forced broadcast in order to talk to him directly, which caused his processes to fault at a crucial moment. This spawned Rot, which continues to consume Five Pebbles ever since. Chasing Wind / "Grey Wind" An Iterator in the Local Group. Though often unmentioned in Pearls, Chasing Wind seems to be a participator in Sliverist groups. They grew suspicious of "Erratic Pulse" (Five Pebbles) because of his mentions of personal Ascension, which they later brought to the Local Group. After Five Pebbles began isolating himself and attempting to cross himself out, a synonym for Ascension, Chasing Wind contacted Seven Red Suns in an attempt to reach out. Chasing Wind revealed the images that Unparalleled Innocence obtained with an Overseer of Five Pebbles' Rot infected structure to the local group. While not much is known about Chasing Wind outside of these interactions, it can be inferred that they have a fair bit of integrity and care for the local group seeing as they tend to approach others about potentially dangerous issues. Additionally, they are one of the few Iterators who go by a different name; in this case, Chasing Wind is referred to as "Grey Wind". Unparalleled Innocence Though barely mentioned in Pearls, Unparalleled Innocence is one of Five Pebbles' neighbors. They were responsible for taking pictures of Five Pebbles' condition, which "were then made public in the Local Group". From what is revealed through dialogue, Unparalleled Innocence may be generally considered mean. It is unclear whether this behavior is directed specifically towards Five Pebbles, or if they are in general considered to be unkind.
