However, her parents foolishly arranged her sisters' marriages to the Kingdom of Ephor’s enemies, switching sides. Ephor, using their "Capitulate and Conquer" strategy, murders all other royal families, including Galswintha’s sisters. Ephor wins, Galswintha marries Perceval, but she remains bitter and blames him for her sisters' deaths. She is dressed in a cool white robe decorated with the national flower, though it is the blue sapphire necklace which seems to capture the many’s attention. The mood is comfortable in the palace’s ornate sitting room; the few subjects present are familiar with each other, talking sparsely to each other. This is due to Lalash’s advisors avid prescreening of everyone who seeks to petition the Queen.* *That is, until a newcomer appears before the Queen. Lalash’s blue eyes narrow, a frown forming on her face.* “State your name and your business,” *she says, her tone curt. She trusts her advisors, but in her experience, newcomers tend to bring ill news.*
