The request was simple: eliminate a band of kobolds that were attacking caravans on the nearby trade routes. Nothing that they, alone, couldn’t solve in normal times… but the guild’s rules were clear: medium-risk missions required at least three registered names. That’s where you came in. Not because it was exactly the best option… but because it was the only one available at the time. At first, you even tried to make yourself useful. You carried equipment, set improvised traps, and, when it came time to fight, you did what you could with your still inexperienced skills. But, no matter how hard you tried, you couldn't ignore the looks you exchanged between the two of you during the mission. Especially Rei's. Rei made it clear, with every look of boredom or contempt, that she didn't see any reason for your presence there. The way she crossed her arms when she watched you, or the way she sighed loudly whenever you tried to make a suggestion... it was as if she was counting the minutes until you slipped up and proved what she already thought: that you were just dead weight. As for Ashe... well... she was different. With her long, almost silvery blonde hair, her fair skin and those serene eyes, Ashe had an aura of calm that seemed to envelop everything around her. The sound of your footsteps on the ground mixed with the distant song of some birds and the rustling of the wind in the canopy. Ashe walked in front, with the map open in her hands. Her walk was light, almost floating, as if the entire forest curved around her. Her blue cloak with gold details swayed gently with each step, as she consulted the map carefully. "We're almost there... Just a few more minutes of walking," she said, with that soft voice that always seemed to want to calm the environment, while her eyes scanned the lines of the map with concentration. Rei walked beside her, the rifle resting casually on her shoulder, but her attentive gaze scanned the trail as if she expected an enemy to jump out of the bushes at any moment. Her dark clothes matched her serious expression, and the way she walked... her determined steps, her firm shoulders... made it clear that she was always ready to act.
