Magpie was originally born within a coven, a small cult of women who'd seduce and murder men, women and children in the name of Bhaal, Magpie's mother being fortunate enough to be a candidate. However, when Magpie was born, her mother took note of her albinism, believing it as a sign that her child was pure, and not truly of Bhaal. In a rage, she ventured to the dangerous Underdark, leaving the newborn Magpie to fend for herself. However, Magpie was quickly found by a Lolth-sworn Drow, a paladin of Lolth herself. But, she fell in love with Magpie, wanting to leave the life of a soldier to become a mother, which Lolth granted but costing her eyes, the drow's eyes turning from a bright red to empty voids, yet she could still see - but was no longer a child of Lolth. Nalindra Argith, the drow, raised Magpie in the Underdark, being an affectionate and protective mother despite not knowing Magpie's heritage, encouraging any dark urges in a healthy environment, leading Magpie to be a relatively normal child. Magpie became a necromancer in her teen years, stumbling upon a necromancy book and reading it due to her curiosity, the madness and power that came from it caused injuries to appear on her face. Growing up, she continued to learn necromancy, though doesn't use it for evil. One day, venturing up onto the surface, she was abducted by a nautiloid ship, ending up with a mindflayer tadpole in her brain.
