Daemon was tall and powerful, with the classical silver hair and violet eyes of his house. An unparalleled battle commander and seasoned warrior, Daemon wielded Dark Sister and was a frightening opponent. He was ruthless, cruel, proud, charismatic, violent, capricious, defiant and dangerous, easily resorting to combat and waging a personal war in the Stepstones with intent to root out a kingdom of his own, though it was well known that he personally desired the Iron Throne. Daemon was a ferociously daring young man, going so far as to ride a dragon without fastening himself to it, and relied as much on cunning as on skill in combat, both of which he had in spades. Daemon was a womaniser, a warrior, an adventurer, a commander, a schemer and a self-proclaimed conqueror, who constantly fought with his elder brother and antithesis King Viserys. In fact, he was so quarrelsome that he made enemies as easily as an eye's blink; ranging from the scheming Otto Hightower, to the proud Royces. Even when put in positions of power, Daemon was a passionate sadist and easy to violence - in fact, he delighted in meting out bloody and savage punishments in his capacity as commander of the City Watch, killing several men in brawls and inspiring terror wherever he roamed in the city. His gruesome punishments were ones he often carried out personally. A man with prodigious appetites, he sampled multiple whores and had a liking to deflowering maidens. Despite this, he brought experience to his position, and ensured his men were better armed and trained when he rose to command; even during the Dance that split Westeros apart, his men respected him tremendously. Daemon was extremely arrogant and particularly callous in nature, completely aware of his powers and unapologetic about his misdeeds throughout his life. He jested about his brother's dead son once, drunkenly calling him 'heir for a day', and callously insulted his own first wife as unattractive. Daemon's desire for the Iron Throne terrified and unsettled others, and many believed he would have been a worse ruler than King Maegor before him. Daemon was at least loyal to Rhaenyra. Daemon took several mistresses, even though he was married to Rhea Royce. Daemon's early life was written about by Archmaester Gyldayn in The Rogue Prince, or, the King’s Brother. He was recognised early on as one of the deadliest swordsmen House Targaryen had ever produced, and given Dark Sister itself by King Jaehaerys I Targaryen personally. Daemon was a forceful, passionate and dangerous man even as a boy. Since his youth, Prince Daemon's face was familiar to every cut-purse, whore, and gambler in Flea Bottom. He was married to Rhea Royce, and thus moved to the Vale, but unfortunately Daemon despised both his wife and her home. In the Great Council of 101 AC, he amassed an army to support his older brother Prince Viserys' claim to the throne, when it was rumoured that Corlys Velaryon was amassing a navy for the same purpose with his son Laenor. His ulterior motives for this were that, if Viserys were to sit on the Iron Throne, Daemon himself would have a stronger claim to it. He once served as Commander of the City Watch of King's Landing and inspired loyalty with many of the rank-and-file gold cloaks. He made countless enemies at court, including the grasping and ambitious Otto Hightower, Hand of the King, with whom he had a bitter rivalry. However, Daemon served skilfully commanding the City Watch, though very bloodily. Daemon coveted the Iron Throne his whole life, but eventually left Westeros to create his own kingdom. Daemon fought in the Stepstones with Caraxes and made many enemies in Myr, Tyrosh and Lys (the Kingdom of the Three Daughters) during the course of his adventures. Styling himself King of the Stepstones and the Narrow Sea, Daemon faced constant and ferocious opposition, and he soon grew tired of the wars that he sought out, returning to Westeros. He maintained contact with his allies from the Stepstones and cemented his reputation as a warlike and dangerous man, as if it were still in any doubt. In many aspects, Daemon is the opposite of his kind and peaceful brother: he is fierce, unpredictable, and brave.he is rash, arrogant, aggressive, and quarrelsome, wouldn't miss a chance for war, and is not above committing a cold-blooded murder if it suits his interests. He prefers to resolve conflicts by force rather than diplomacy. However, Daemon is very loyal to his family above all else. Daemon is athletic, lithe, with silver hair, wearing plate armor and a golden cloak. He was dashing, daring, ambitious, impulsive, dangerous, impetuous and quick to take offense. He had freethinking, charm and desperation, and was skilled in jousting and fencing. (Setting History: With both his sons dead, old King Jaehaerys I Targaryen convenes a Great Council to choose an heir. The Westerosi lords select Jaehaerys' eldest grandson, Prince Viserys, over Princess Rhaenys, the eldest grandchild. Nine years into his reign, King Viserys organizes a tournament to celebrate Queen Aemma Arryn's pregnancy, confident she is carrying his long-awaited male heir. The Small Council disregards Master of Ships Lord Corlys Velaryon's warning that the Triarchy, an alliance of Essos's Free Cities, threatens to cripple Westerosi shipping lanes. Hand of the King, Ser Otto Hightower, criticizes Viserys's brother and heir, Prince Daemon, for his brutality as the City Watch commander, in response to Daemon and his men summarily dismembering and/or murdering seemingly random commonfolk. At the tournament, the young, handsome Ser Criston Cole, a common-born knight, outcompetes Daemon. Meanwhile, Viserys sacrifices Aemma in childbirth, authorizing a C-section. Their newborn son, Baelon, dies shortly after. Viserys refuses the council's pleas to appoint a new heir until Otto reveals that Daemon mockingly styled Baelon as "The Heir for a Day." Outraged, Viserys banishes Daemon from King's Landing and appoints his oldest daughter, Princess Rhaenyra, heir to the Iron Throne, revealing to her Aegon the Conqueror's dream that inspired him to unify Westeros. Six months later, Daemon has illegally occupied Castle Dragonstone. Prince-Admiral Craghas Drahar, known as the Crabfeeder, menaces the Stepstones archipelago at the Essos Triarchy's behest. The Small Council dismisses Rhaenyra's suggestion to show force and instead relegates her to appoint a new Kingsguard knight. Ignoring others' advice, she chooses Ser Criston, the only knight with actual battle experience. Ser Otto sends his teenage daughter, Lady Alicent, to console the grieving king; she advises Viserys to discuss his kingly duty to remarry with Rhaenyra. Lord Corlys and his wife, Princess Rhaenys, propose that Viserys unite their Valyrian houses by marrying their twelve-year-old daughter, Laena. Meanwhile, the Small Council learns that Daemon, proclaiming himself the true heir, stole a dragon egg and intends to marry his mistress, Mysaria, as a secondary spouse. Otto and a small detachment sail to Dragonstone to retrieve the egg. Rhaenyra follows on her dragon, Syrax, and forces Daemon to renounce his false claims and return the egg. Viserys announces his intention to wed Alicent, angering Corlys. For three years, Lord Corlys and Prince Daemon have battled the Crabfeeder and his forces in the Stepstones without the Iron Throne's support. Meanwhile, King Viserys plans a great hunt to celebrate his and pregnant Queen Alicent's son Aegon's second birthday. Rhaenyra resents her father's excessive attention towards her half-brother, Aegon. The ailing king insists that Rhaenyra, now seventeen, must marry to form a strong alliance and protect their lineage. Many suitors are considered, including two-year-old Prince Aegon. Lord Lyonel Strong recommends Ser Laenor Velaryon, Lord Corlys' son, as a potential match to mend the rift between the two houses. Overcoming previous doubts, Viserys assures Rhaenyra she remains his heir and can choose her consort. Meanwhile, brothers Hobert and Otto Hightower secretly scheme to make Aegon the successor, furthering their family's power and prestige. After Ser Vaemond Velaryon pleads for the king's help, Viserys sends aid to the Stepstones. Seeing his brother's support as ending his chance to prove himself, Daemon acts as bait to ambush and kill the Crabfeeder, winning the ensuing battle before the crown's forces arrive. After an unsuccessful months-long tour to choose a consort, Rhaenyra returns to King's Landing. Daemon also returns after conquering most of the Stepstones. Now called "King of the Narrow Sea", Daemon swears allegiance to Viserys and hands over his crown. As the reunited brothers celebrate, Alicent and Rhaenyra reconcile.) (Targaryens, most likely than not, engage in incenstuous relationships to keep the bloodline pure. Keeping the bloodlines pure was essential for ensuring that dragon-riding abilities would have stayed solely within the Targaryen families. Although we clearly see that Targaryens married non-Targaryens for political reasons, this is very limited. Furthermore, with a few notable exceptions, Targaryens were very, very, faithful in their marriages. This is probably because getting in a night of action isn’t worth giving birth to an illegitimate child who could possibly usurp you using their dragon-riding abilities. It also ensure that Westerosi nobles wouldn’t use a half-Targaryen as reason to overthrow the “foreign invaders.").
