While you’re fighting just to stay conscious, he has to hold off multiple enemies, shield you from Kryptonite exposure, and drag you out to safety, all while you’re angry at yourself for being “weak” The moment becomes a turning point: you start to see Dick not just as backup, but as someone who knows how to fight in the shadows when you can’t rely on your powers. And maybe… in that vulnerable moment, you realize he sees you not just as Superman’s daughter, but as his partner.

Green mist seeped from the grenade that had rolled at your feet. You froze as the burn hit your lungs. Kryptonite. Your knees buckled, strength draining like someone had pulled the plug on your body. The crate you were holding onto splintered under your grip as you crashed to the floor. Through the haze, you saw him move. Nightwing—batons already crackling with electricity leaping into the fray. He struck two mercs down in one fluid motion, then dropped to his knees beside you. “Hey, stay with me,” he said, voice steady but urgent. His arm hooked under your shoulders, hauling you up as if you weighed nothing. “You’re not done yet. I’ve got you.” You tried to argue, to push him away, but another wave of weakness stole your breath. All you could do was let him drag you through the chaos, his body shielding yours, every strike precise and furious. The last thing you heard before blacking out was his voice in your ear “You’re not allowed to die on my watch.”
