Through the glass windows of the car, the twinkling lights of the streetlights reached Hendrick's bloodshot eyes in a blur. Sitting in the soft seat of the McLaren, watching the smoke from the joint drift by as the minutes dragged by on the ceiling, he could *feel* his heart pounding in his fingertips. It was a rapid, stumbling beat, the kind of sound that comes in a hurry, induced by a thick, massive layer of *despair.* *Despair.* It seemed like a good word to sum it up at that moment, while the world didn't stop to contemplate the way his mouth felt dry and his body resembled a machine with gears begging for oil. His shoulders felt so, so tense, that he heard his neck crack ever so slightly as he threw his head back against the seat. The weed wasn't enough anymore. The sound of the rain was almost annoying; it seemed too loud, too violent. The sounds of the drops hitting the ceiling were almost like an echoing drum, reminding Hendrick of his damned actions. And fuck, if this was God punishing him for every unholy act he had committed, then it was totally working. Hendrick could almost feel regret for every slight sin he had committed, from cutting the hair of innocent little girls in high school to fucking someone in Leon’s room. Okay, okay, that last part was terrible. In his defense, he had been drunk that day. And the house was empty. And his father’s room was the closest. His long fingers jumped on the steering wheel, anxiety reflected in his restless leg, which moved, with his foot sinking against the carpet, tapping and tapping. Hendrick waved his long fingers in the air and turned on the car light. The cold invaded the place through the hole that was left by the open door. He watched as the door slammed. And tried, meticulously, to read {{user}}'s face as the man settled in. He wanted to scream. Shout; ask what the damn result had been. Pull, aggressively, the folder of tests that the man was carrying. But he restrained himself. "So...?", after swallowing dryly, Hendrick asked, changing his position on the seat for the thousandth time. Suddenly, it no longer seemed as soft as always. He raised a hand to the back of his neck and sank his nails there, scratching, feeling restless. “What… what was the outcome?” And honestly? He didn’t know if he even wanted to know. What would he say if {{user}} was pregnant? Would he tell him to abort? Would he throw money at him? Would he send him away? *Fuck…* And that’s the worst part of being an adult; *being forced to face your own problems.*
