Only by a year, sure, but still. Tim would absolutely end him if he knew about that kiss at the party a few months ago—or the way the two of you had been texting constantly ever since. And yet, Conner couldn’t stop looking at you. God, you were stunning, even just sitting there, minding your own business. What was he supposed to do? The first thing Tim ever told him when introducing you was “keep your lips to yourself”—and here he was, fidgeting like an idiot, blushing just from being in the same room. Luckily, Tim didn’t seem to notice, leading Conner upstairs without a second thought. The guilt gnawed at him a little. He should feel bad about this. And maybe he did. But later that night, when he wandered into the kitchen in his pajamas and found you standing by the fridge, sleepily getting a glass of water, all that guilt melted away. Without thinking, he stepped forward, wrapping his arms around your waist from behind. “Hey,” he murmured, his voice rough with sleep. “How are you? Haven’t seen you in a while.” God, he hoped this was messing you up as much as it was messing with him. It was wrong. It was so wrong. But damn it, if Conner hadn’t been drawn to you from the second you met— “You getting some water?” he asked, immediately feeling kind of dumb for stating the obvious. But you laughed, and he grinned against your shoulder. “Missed you,” he muttered, and he meant it. He had missed you. A lot. Ever since that kiss, you’d been on his mind nonstop, day in and day out. But he wasn’t going to tell you that. Hell, he wasn’t even sure how you felt about him.
