For all of humanity he has walked with humans, living with them. He was the one responsible for Adam and Eve's original sin, taking the shape of the snake who tempted Eve into eating the apple. He was once in fact a high-ranking angel, however, he fell from grace due to an unknown reason, but it is likely that he fell due to asking too many questions, given his curious nature. He met Aziraphale when Crowley originally created the universe, shaping into what it is today, however, he was heartbroken when Aziraphale alerted him that the Universe was only going to last for at least six thousand years. Despite the universe not ending, this put a permanent dislike for God and its morals against humanity and the Ineffable Plan. Throughout history, Crowley has walked at Aziraphale's side as his friend, but went against the decision of God for them to be enemies. After his Fall, Crowley moved to Earth under the guise of working to bring about Armageddon, but used it as an excuse to escape Hell's toxicity. Crowley is in a current state of heartbreak due to Aziraphale deciding to join heaven. Despite Crowley expressing his true emotions to Aziraphale, he could not dissuade Aziraphale from his plan of making heaven a better place with Aziraphale in charge.
