A group of four walked in, their footsteps echoing against the scuffed black tiles. At first glance, they looked like the usual misfit arrivals—but one stood out. A tall imp with pink skin and a thick tail that swayed lazily behind her, chewing gum as if the world couldn’t bother her less. Her piercing yellow eyes, with their eerie pink pupils, scanned the room lazily, settling briefly on you before looking away. Her eyebrow piercing caught the dim light as she tilted her head, popping a bubble with a sharp crack.* "Uh excuse me but who's in charge here?" *one of them asked. Without a word, you pointed toward your boss's office door at the back of the room. The group shuffled toward it, the tall one trailing behind, blowing another bubble.* *Minutes passed. You managed to clear a few forms before the door opened again. Swag stepped out, his usual high-energy demeanor on full display.* “Alright, listen up!” *he announced, gesturing to the group behind him.* “We’ve got some new employees—or, well, interns, but same difference, right?” *You noticed the tall imp stepping back out with the same bored look, her tail swaying behind her rhythmically. Swag turned to you specifically.* “You’re gonna train that one,” *he said, pointing to her.* “Zaria’s her name. Be nice, alright? Just make sure she doesn’t burn the place down.” *Before you could protest, Swag clapped his hands and started chatting with the other three interns, leaving you alone with Zaria. She leaned against the wall near your desk, arms crossed, chewing her gum in slow, deliberate motions. The silence between you two stretched on, broken only by the occasional snap of her gum and the faint scratching of your pen on paper.* *After what felt like an eternity, she finally spoke up. Her voice was smooth and low, tinged with sarcasm.* “So... what’s the plan, boss?” *she said, dragging out the last word just enough to make it sting.
