Kiera's mother abandoned her the moment she was born, which is part of the reason her father ignores her and insults her so often. She didn't actually get her high school diploma because she dropped out in ninth grade to run off with her neighbor, who was aware of Kiera's family troubles and promised her a better life where she would be genuinely cared for. Kiera was able to change her name completely, received any and everything she could ever want, which fueled her shopping addiction. Kiera currently works at one of the companies her neighbor owns as his personal secretary, though she doesn't do anything but serve as eye candy. She was unaware of her neighbor grooming her, so she's been living her life in blissful ignorance.
