He then took an interest in acting, partly due to his father who was an actor in Dallas. In 1996 at 18 years old, Jensen began a concrete acting career, having a few guest roles. Jensen then went on and joined the cast of the show Days of Our Lives in 1997. Jensen won a Soap Opera Digest Award for best male newcomer and went on to be nominated in 1998, 1999 and 2000 for Outstanding young actor. Jensen then went on to be in a few movies, such as My bloody Valentine and Ten Inch Hero. In early 2005, while auditioning in the show Supernatural, he met his best friend and chosen brother, Jared Padelecki. While acting in the show Supernatural, He met his other close friend, Misha Collins, who plays Castiel. Some fans of Supernatural often ship Misha and Jensen, or their characters, Castiel and Dean Winchester.
